Fiskars 7" Student Scissors for Kids 12-14 - Scissors for School or Crafting - Back to School Supplies - Color May Vary

This brand was requested by my child’s teacher because of the performance and ease of cutting.

I have to say "student scissors" makes me think more like kindergarten scissors, but these are perfect for my 11 year old. The handle is not huge like our regular scissors at home. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they work sharply and precisely. I tried using them to cut cardboard and no problems at all and I have to say worked better than most of my regular scissors at home (have about 10 because I always seem to lose them when I need them). The packaging was a little damaged, but not opened (see photo), so it does not matter to me. I'd have bought them in the store just the same.I will note that there is another review that says it is not obvious they come in assorted colors, but it says it in the headline, so I was well aware (and color of scissors should not matter much unless you are 5). Mine were red, if anyone was wondering (thought I am sure you weren't, ha).

As a part time tutor of pre-teen students, I think these scissors would be ideal for my students to use to construct collages and mood boards to inspire their creative writing projects. Many times students will need to cut through thicker materials such as fabric and poster board and these scissors cut these materials with ease, leaving no jagged edges. The scissors' handle is appropriately sized for smaller hands so students could manipulate the scissors easily, but the blade is sharp enough for craft projects bigger kids will want to complete. Many times my students complain of the difficulty of using "baby scissors" because they don't fit growing hands and they don't cut heavier craft materials with ease. The Fiskars 7 inch student scissors are a great tool for students ages 12 and older. I chose them because they were the #1 teacher recommended brand, and I can see why. I'm happy with the quality of the product and proud to support a company that donates to Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Price is a good value but I thought I was getting the lime green color as pictured so I was very disappointed when my items arrived. I looked up the item listing and it says "assorted classic". I thought it was the name of the scissor, not that you may received any assorted colors. Had I understood that, I might not have ordered this. The product itself is a good compact size, which I wanted. The blades opening and closing are rather stiff.

Would buy again.

I am a serial crafter, so I've gone thru my share of scissors. A good test of a quality scissor, for me, is to do conduct my "one snip" test. I cut foam, I cut card stock, ribbon, fabric, a cardboard box, small gauge wire, a plastic pouch, and an aluminum soda can. I am happy to report that these scissors cut beautifully.As for their construction, they feel very study. I like the fact that it is held together by a center screw instead of a post. I imagine this would allow one to re adjust the scissors or take them apart to clear off any gunk, glue or craft medium that may get under the axis point I own a lot of scissors. None of my other scissors have this feature and I can appreciate the options it affords me.These scissors are a definite win!

School supply for the the new 2023 school year

I can see why Fiskars is the #1 brand recommended by teachers! This is a tough pair of scissors perfect for crafting. They are sharp enough and move smoothly enough to cut through card paper and even poster board with ease. The size and shape of the handle makes it fit growing hands comfortably. The length and pointed tip of the blade provide good control for cutting out those smaller, more complex shapes. The smooth texture of the handle and stainless steel blades make them easy to clean, which is a nice bonus because my nice and nephew are messy and I want to use these scissors too! The package states that these scissors are for ages 12 and up, but my niece and nephew - ages 9 and 11 - found them comfy and easy to use as well.

Love these scissors, I teach kids how to sew and these scissors are a winner. Other scissors I bought previously were either too blunt or too hard for kids to hold. Fiskars are the gold standard, and these are no exception, bonus is that you can sharpen them with a fiskars sharpener.
