Perfect GADA watch
Versatile, rugged, and classy. A true GADA (Go anywher do anything) watch. It can be dressed up or down. Perfect dimensions, and even works on smaller wrist. Can't beat Seiko's brand quality.

Overall excellent watch
I’ve had it for around 2 months and have been daily wearing for that time. At first, the time keeping was worst than expected but became better the more I wore it. It’s perfect for my day to day due to my job which requires me to move around a lot which makes it gain time throughout the day. At night I leave it crown side up which makes it lose time causing it to even out every day when I wake up. All around it runs at +2 seconds a day, which is incredible on top of how beautiful the dial is. The lume is great and everything about this watch is great. This is my first watch and the only one i’ll be wearing for years and years to come.

Great Everyday Watch
The Alpinist is the correct size. At 37.7 mm diameter 46 mm lug to lug and 13 mm thick, this is just right. I like the 20 bar water resistance made most secure by the screw down crown. If you are looking for the heft and feel of the OG stainless steel watch with a three link bracelet and a date, this is the ticket. The pebble finish dial that gets slightly darker as it goes out to the railroad minute track works extremely well with the gilt cathedral hands. The painted even Arabic markers complement the colors perfectly. In despite of the vintage look of the dial furniture, the hands and pips on the minute track glow a satisfyingly modern blue in the dark. The display back reveals a workmanlike movement with good performance. The striped rotor is a nice touch. The hacking Seiko 6R35 movement keeps time well within specifications and the 70 hour power reserve means it will sit for a weekend without need for setting on Monday. Case polishing and finish is very good. The twin button clasp is small and neat, including two micro adjustment holes. The bracelet was easy to size and all links are solid. The bracelet has half links and one should be able to size it correctly. If you don't like a bracelet, it would do well on a strap due to the adequate lug length. This watch is an excellent all around choice for someone needing a go anywhere do anything watch. You will find this watch as appropriate in an office as it is on a hike. The Alpinist is a great value and with Seiko's reputation for reliable performance, I anticipate many years of enjoyment from my watch.

Met every expectation
I can remember when I hesitated to buy a $70 Timex watch from a Target store, so this was not a casual purchase for me. My birthday was coming up and I figured that I could splurge. After several candidates and hours of YouTube videos, I chose this model. I believe that I have made the right choice. This watch was quickly sized to my 6 1/2 inch wrist by removing three links. With only two micro adjustments, I was nervous, but no problem. This watch fits perfectly and is very comfortable. Operationally, I set this watch hacked to my atomic wall clock two weeks ago and it is about 10 seconds fast today. I figure I'll unscrew the crown and reset the time when I gets 20 or so seconds fast, so this watch is better than most of my mechanical models. Visually, this is a handsome watch. The dial can appear different depending on the light and the angle that it is viewed. It can appear brilliant green, to grey, to almost black. I like this variance. So far, I have no regrets and feel this was a great purchase.

Very good
After a few weeks, very satisfied. It is keeping good time, deployment clap works great, the size and weight are balanced, and it remains very comfortable to wear all day. The green textured dial gets lots of attention. It’s a keeper. The luminescent dial feature is not useful if you work indoors or wear long sleeves it doesn’t get a lot of daylight exposure. The links in the bracelet were removed and replaced easily at home with a $10 kit. With automatic movement watches, you have to expect to have it serviced about every three years , at substantial cost. A factory maintenance service from Seiko is, I think around, $250. So keep that in mind, but I think this watch is worth it, an especially likely to have a reasonably good resale value with Seiko fans based on a bit of the history on the Alpinist branding.

Close to perfect
Such a beautiful watch and hard to find a better watch than this for the money. The only (small) negatives for me is the accuracy and lack of micro adjustments (no half links and only 2 micro adjust holes on clasp). These two minor negatives are easy for me to overlook. Love this watch--it has instantly become my favorite.

Not a Rolex but worth the money! It’s a buy for me!
I wanted to compare this to a Rolex DateJust 41, because it reminds me of the look and similar size. Although they are not quite on the same level, the Seiko retails for $725 and can be found around $600 and the Rolex retails at $8,050. At over 11 times the price I would expect the Rolex to outshine! The Rolex DateJust 41 and Seiko Prospex Alpinist have distinct characteristics. The DateJust 41 features a 41mm Oystersteel case, a smooth bezel, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens over the date. It is waterproof up to 100 meters and operates on a precise Calibre 3235 movement with a 70-hour power reserve. The Oyster bracelet is made of three-piece solid links in Oystersteel. The Seiko Prospex Alpinist, on the other hand, is a reinterpretation of a 1959 sports watch. It has a smaller 38mm case with a gradated green dial, LumiBrite hands, and markers. The watch is water-resistant up to 200 meters and features a 24-jewel automatic movement with a 70-hour power reserve. The bracelet is made of stainless steel. Both watches showcase different styles and functionalities, catering to different preferences and purposes. Additionally, it's worth noting that Rolex conducts further in-house testing on their movements while inside the watch case, regulating them to achieve an impressive accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day. In contrast, the Seiko Prospex Alpinist has an accuracy range of +25 to -15 seconds per day. This reflects a difference in the precision standards and testing methodologies employed by the two watchmakers.

Perfect size once adjusted – excellent everyday watch
At first, I thought the watch felt a bit small, but that was only because I’m used to wearing a larger Garmin smartwatch. After a couple of days, and especially once I had the bracelet links adjusted, everything clicked. The size is actually perfect — very well balanced on the wrist, comfortable, and elegant without feeling bulky. The green dial looks even better in person, and the overall quality is exactly what you’d expect from Seiko. Great everyday watch that works just as well casually as it does dressed up. Very happy with this purchase.
