Ecco Bella Plant-Based Vegan Lipstick (Primrose)

This lipstick looks exactly as the photo shows it, but I was hoping that with the name of "Peach Rose" that it would end up being more peach or more rose in shade lol. It is not. It is JUST as the photo shows it, which I would describe as more of a rusty mauve kind of color or a brick brown/red kind of shade.The packaging is very very small, which is kind of nice because it is easy to take along with you. I like the matte black finish, it is very sleek.The lipstick has a very off scent to it, almost like it has already gone bad. It smells kind of like cardboard box mixed with chemicals, if you have ever had a lipstick go bad then you might know what I am talking about. The smell disipates once you have this on for a few minutes.The texture is very, very hard. I worry that I am going to break it each time I put it on so I use a brush instead.It feels almost exactly like having only lipliner on and I do not think that is is moisturizing or smooth in any way. It is possible that I got one that HAS gone bad, I don't have another to compare it to though.The color is pretty and very flattering, but again I was hoping for something lighter but that part is entirely my fault and is not affected this review whatsoever as their picture is very accurate in my opinion.I am glad that this is natural ingredients, and I would be willing to try another color to see if I just got one that is bad but if I got another that is the same texture and smell then I would definitely not buy another. I think there are better formulas out there for natural lipstick.I hope my experience was helpful to you, thanks for reading.

I have found it very difficult to pply the lipstick since it is so dense.

I've been looking for a makeup company that I can stand behind for a while now and I think Ecco Bella was a good choice for me. I did a good bit of research what makeup lines were organic and I felt that Ecco Bella offered the best ingredients at the best pricepoint with organic certifications.The real test of makeup is how it wears, and this lipstick is great. It lasts a long time when I wear it with the lip liner (terracotta) it will usually last throughout a meal. The consistency is nice, a thicker blend similar to Chanel lip color but not as smooth as a Lancome lip color without the overbearing perfume scents. It depends what you like, I am wiling to sacrifice the smooth quality to get longer wear out of a color; especially if it means the lip color is organic and I don't have to worry about ingesting perfume and chemicals. I think that anything that has been given up on the texture or consistency is well worth it for the natural ingredients of an organic product. I love that this lipstick doesn't smell like perfumes or taste gross. I like to use a gloss every now and then to keep my lips moist with this lipstick. If you like smoother lip colors you might want to try one of the other kinds of lipsticks Ecco Bella offers. The package design is sleek looking too!If you are looking for a makeup that will be kind to the earth and your skin, try this. I've been very happy with this line so far.

I'd really like to give this 3.5 to 3.7 stars. As with all online cosmetic purchases, I expected some give or take in the color, but this lipstick, although labeled cafe au lait, has really deep mauve/ pink undertones. The color swatch does zilch in terms of indicating suitability for your individual complexion. However, having said all of that, it looks stunning if you have an olive/ indian/ Mediterranean complexion. I'm guessing that this color would look decidedly darker on a lighter skin tone, and it's going to look a bit hideous and frosty when I tan over the summer, but a lighter coat should fix that. Full points for staying power (considering it has no preservatives!). It's more matte than I thought, so lip gloss works well over it. I tried it on a day I was out and forgot my lip balm and it was pretty great in terms of moisturizing capabilities in 20 degree weather.A quick note on smell: yes, it has a slightly old-lipstick-y smell; however, I suspect this is because Amazon does not store it in a refrigerator, which is ideal for organic/natural cosmetics that contain little to no preservatives or fragrances. I don't mind it. Perhaps the solution is to buy directly from the company.

Only reason I didnt give 5 star is because the colour is a lot paler than I expected. I am dark skin, but there is only a shade of difference between this and the cafe au lait on my lips. I expected that from the au lait but thought this would have been a deeper hue. Which one would you recommend on my next purchase?The stick feels a bit fragile so I keep it wound really low when applyng because I dont want to break it. The smell is not offensive and the lipstick is NOT shorter than the average out there. However, it exceeds the average in terms of moisture and is NOT AT ALL drying like some of the non-natural name brands I spent a fortune on and now have to throw out. Thanks Ecco Bella, you've got a fan in me. I cant find you in Jamaica, W.I. though.

Arrived on time in excellent condition despite minimal mailing envelope. Color was true to website. Would reorder.

I had previously bought this lipstick in the summer time and was so happy with it I decided to buy another in the winter time. Unfortunately the quality was not as good, (i don't know if this had something to do with the way that the product was being stored). This time around I found that the product was not smooth, it felt very 'bitty' and terribly hard. I was unable to apply it with ease, and it did not feel nice. The product is not cheap as far as lipsticks go, so I was very disappointed that I didn't receive the quality that I was expecting for the amount of money that I paid! I hope they look into the issue I have raised.

The smell of this lipstick is like the one that got expired. I don't particularly like the colour! I can see dry skin on my lips, so it won't help to moisturise the skin. I would not recommend this product again!

I bought this as I am very allergic to most lipsticks, loved the colour, but I am sensitive to this one too ...

I bought this with such pride and joy and it was a bit rancid and the colour was not as per the photo.
