Died in Less than 1 Year. Dell Refused to Service - the Warranty Check Said it was Covered.
I purchased this monitor in May 2022 from Amazon's Warehouse as Used. The on line Dell Warranty check said my unit was covered into 2025, and says nothing at all about not covering pre-owned units.Like others here mentioned, the backlight on mine started to die intermittently, then more and more often, requiring a power cycle. I called Dell, who confirmed that used units purchased directly from Amazon were covered. I spent more than an hour troubleshooting by phone with the tech, who promised to send a replacement. The next day I received an E-mail saying it was NOT covered by warranty with no explanation. After two more phone calls it turns out the refusal to service was because whomever purchased it from Amazon initially had not contacted Dell before returning it relinquishing ownership. I sent them all the documentation they asked for including copies of the Amazon receipt, photos of the serial number....they refused to do anything. I asked them to point out where the warranty states that my unit was not covered, they did not, the Dell warranty page says nothing about that. They instead wrote my documentation was "fraudulent" because their original purchaser had not transferred ownership. Buying it from Amazon, their is no way to find the original owner. Overall I spend about 6 hours with them going back and forth over a 2 week period. I successfully got them to transfer ownership to me, but they still would not cover it, and they would never let me communicate directly with the person making the decisions. They just ended up saying they would not fix it without indicating exactly why. Something about paperwork anomalies. Is that legal? So, this model 2720Q has a common defect in the backlighting as mentioned in other reviews. Dell may do nothing about it even if the serial number shows it is covered, due to some unpublished policy. Also mentioned by other reviewers. This is the only 1 star review I have ever given on a major brand product. I am astounded Dell would spend so much tech time making an honest customer feel terrible about Dell. I am astounded they are so disorganized that they would waste nearly a day of my own time (and over two weeks in total waiting for replies) just to say I own a pile of junk after less than 1 year. Things break, but companies should be organized enough to print the rules somewhere, and to inform the owner of coverage without a 2 week hassle.

Did i get a defective used monitor?
The colors were uneven on the monitor I received. Left side greenish and right side reddish so impossible to calibrate. I called Amazon for support and they said to contact dell for support. Dell told me this monitor was registered to someone else 6 months ago so they cannot support it! I purchased it as new that week. Tried to contact Amazon again and they said “sorry our system is down so cannot process your return”. So I just request return from the app and returned it. Reason for 2 stars and not 0 is I have another of these monitors and they are excellent. I just got a bad one from Amazon and bad support experience.

For Apple M1 chips on Ventura - DO NOT BUY MONITOR
It was great until today (10 months in) when the screen just started ghosting and then flickering (wigging out). Very disappointed. If you have an Apple silicon-based laptop do not buy this (or other external monitors). You will have the same (if not worse) issue. No solution (or response for that matter) from Apple yet as of 07/07/2023

POOR RELIABILITY: Backlight went out in 4 out of 6 monitors, potential QC or design issue
I bought two for my office use. One of them started having intermittent backlight issue every few hours to days. Power cycling restored the backlight but it was disruptive because that disconnected the USB-C and monitor (so all the other screens flickered while the monitor signal was being reconnected), so I had it replaced via Dell Support. The interesting thing was that the replacement monitor (same model) started exhibiting the same issue! I had it replaced again, and the second replacement monitor worked fine.Fast forward a few months, and now the other original monitor started having the same issue! Had that one replaced too, then the replacement monitor—3rd so far—still has the issue! One or more backlights would go off every few hours (which one goes off seems random, but the far right one is the most common, consistent with other monitors), and what's worse, sometimes ALL backlights would go off, rendering nothing on the display! I'm in the process of having this replaced—4th!—and hope I would get a good one this time (like the 2nd replacement). If the new one turns out to be defective too, I'm going to go for a refund. The picture quality itself is good, with a pretty low input lag (no G-SYNC though), so it's good for casual gaming too. Now if it only were RELIABLE…. :-(

Already my second monitor
I used to have an older version of it and I really loved it. Since I wanted to upgrade my working station I bought this one as my second monitor. I just love it. I think it's one of the best values of money you can get for this price. I work from and also do some graphic design jobs as a freelancer. I power it with my MacBook Pro 15' and works very well. Now with the type c port cable that also charges my MacBook directly, I have one less cable to manage. Very happy!
