Excellent book and really well written!!
Although I just started reading the book this morning, I have enjoyed it so much already that I wanted to take a few moments to write a review based on what I have experienced so far. This book is really well written. "Buck" K4IA, is a great writer and it's really enjoyable to read his stories and great explanations. I don't tend to like to read a lot of books but for some reason this book is something that I just want to keep reading. I'm working on my amateur radio technician class test studying, and I'm so thankful that I bought this book. I have looked at various other resources but just found them a little bit too confusing. I understand that everybody's learning style is different, but from my perspective, this should cover a lot of learning styles.I want to say thanks "Buck" for taking the time to write this to help people out. You can certainly tell it's a labor of love for you.The author gets you captivated in just the first couple of pages with some of the stories about growing up and how he got involved with ham radio. To me this was really important to hear because it puts some perspective in your mind about the importance of getting involved with things like this and how fun it can actually be. It seems that many hobbies nowadays don't take much "thinking". Being a ham radio operator does take some efforts and I believe it's more rewarding this way.I honestly think that anybody that is considering taking the technician class for ham radio, really should strongly consider getting this book for starters and just starting to go through it. I believe you also will find it enjoyable to read and a very helpful way to learn. The author right away calms your fears that you might have when thinking about taking an exam. He gives practical steps and encouragement on how to learn and grow and being a ham operator. Thanks again for a great book. If I don't revise (or add to) this review, it is only because the book got even better as I continued through it! I anticipate that very much.

Passed!!
I read this book to help me learn the material and not just the rote memory that a lot ham radio courses seemed to offer. This book breaks down the fundamentals in a very easy to understand way and fully prepares you for the test. I highly recommend this book! I passed on my first attempt.

This sped up the learning curve a ton!
Just a little background but been a CB guy for about 40 years so I already understood a lot of the basics such as lingo, FCC rules, types of antennas and even reading schematics to the point I can identify most parts. When I did not know much about was things like propagation, satellites, DTMF/CTCSS and random stuff but the hardest areas were things dealing with electrical equations, frequency bands, etc. When I took the test on the AARL website I generally was scoring 55-65% without looking up any of the answers (cheating).I had this book less than 24 hours. Just thumbing through it my eyes immediately caught many of those questions. Haven't done a front to back on it yet just thumbing through some areas. I took the same tests six times last night and hit 82-89% repeatedly just based on what little I've learned so far.. but in each case I saw the answer to something I got wrong multiple times but instead of just getting the answer it was explained WHY that is the answer. Explained what CTCSS is for. RACES. WJTX (if I spelled right). Satellites. Things I didn't even have a clue I needed to know. The way things were explained really seems to stick with you especially the one page with a list of words that as put - if any of these words appear that is the answer every single time.If like me you do know your way around the simpler stuff of CB radio, electronics and antennas but was also lacking the more ham oriented stuff this book will bump up your knowledge level really quick and can't even explain how your eyes quickly find the answers to questions you get wrong often and how to remember the answer easier.Excellent book. Can't take the new Tech test till after July 1st and I am absolutely ready now.

This is a very "no nonsense" book full of factual info.
I have not completed this book yet but the portions I have read were, for the most part, are easy to read and understand. The person having no knowledge of radio or electronics should read the first half of the book more than once before continuing on. It will make the understanding of the later part of the book easier.

Great book - great value
It's true, it is the easy way. I thought it was enjoyable to read. The author doesn't go on and on with the stories. He keeps them pretty short with interesting background information. Focusing on only the correct answers really does help. It would be good if there was a little more explanation on many of the questions. Overall it was a great help at a cheap price. Easier to use than the internet sites for the learning part. You'll still want to use the internet sites for practice tests. I took the Technician and General tests together and it was quite easy.

A straight forward way to study for your Technician Amature Radio exam
The book starts off discussing the various aspects of the exam elements, then gives all the questions along with ONLY the correct answers. The index helps to find specific information. In my opinion, this book is useful to prepare for passing the exam, but I don't think it will make you an amateur radio (ham) operator.

Excellent book
This book is written in the form of a story. Very entertaining as well as informative. I recommend it if you are serious about Amature radio and do not know where to start.
