A quiet, powerful, hardworking shallow water well pump
We bought an older home 2 years ago with much work to be done, especially regarding the very hard well water and an aging Craftsman shallow well pump in our basement.First, we added a wonderfully efficient and reliable EcoPure Hybrid 35k Grain water softener. Then, when the original inefficient water pump began to grind and screech, we determined through our research that a good replacement would be the well-regarded Goulds J5SH. The "H" distinguishes this pump from its sibling, J5S, by focusing on H(igher) pressure, whereas the latter focuses on more water throughput, and improved pressure was a key purchase requirement for us. We also wanted a much quieter pump, too.The easily installed J5SH has delivered thus far exceptionally on all accounts. The pump runs quietly enough to watch/listen to our basement activity room tv nearby with modest volume increase. Further, we could push the shut-off pressure up to around 70 PSI (or even a bit higher, though the helpful and knowledgeable Goulds pre-sales person says that J5SH pressure switch/gauge sensitivity begins to drop off after 70 PSI). However, we found that 60 PSI works well for us, quite an improvement on the unreliable 40-45 PSI the failing pump provided. Finally, the J5SH restores the pressure quite rapidly when it does kick it, most often in less than 2 minutes for us, a bit longer if someone is showering ... ;-)Finally, kudos also to Jamlyn-Supply, our Amazon vendor, for making the Goulds J5SH purchase and delivery a smooth, timely, no-incident transaction.

Great residential pump
Great Little pump. My house runs off of spring water and only has 17 lb of pressure. I use this pump to boost my pressure from 17psi to 60psi. It works very well pressurizing my holding tank and keeps up with the demand of everything in my house. The only thing I would recommend is make sure you have a check valve when you order this pump.

Worth the money
This is a very good pump. I put off buying a expensive pump and was using the cheap china pumps and was replacing them every year and always had problems with them. This pump works way better and was worth every dollar.

Affordable and reliable, just not the most efficient option.
I have a vacation home that I also rent on an island in the West Indies. I’ve had issues with a failing submersible that I installed originally, primarily due to the cistern running dry. I’ve since installed a float switch to prevent that. The other problem with the submersible is the pickup/intake level is nearly a foot off the bottom, which represents over 1000 gallons of water still in the tank.I decided to also plumb a conventional jet pump. They are the most popular here for cisterns because they are affordable and very reliable. I used an Apache Top Hole Skimmer Stainer on the intake which gets me right down to the bottom of the cistern. However side by side comparisons show that the 1/2 HP submersible is faster and more efficient at reaching cut off than the 1/2 HP jet pump. Considerably so. I will keep using the submersible as my primary pump because electricity is over 3 times more expensive here. The Gould Jet pump is affordable and reliable, and it has it’s own self contained pressure switch. However it’s not the most efficient and I found the adjustment range on the pressure switch to be off. My original 30-50psi switch has exactly a 20psi range from cut in to cut off. This one is barely more than 15 psi, even after much tinkering.

Total Scam Artist
Pump was inoperable. I paid 759.00 to get it here to help my parents who had been without water for over a week and we actually had to modify and use parts out of the old pump. I feel completely ripoed off.

Foreign materials, sigh....
This is my third Myers pump in 26 years. Love the brand. Sticker on unit says made in USA and the cast iron has made in China. Go figure.

Quiet and powerful
First pump I have ever owned and a great purchase. Researched and then purchased on the recommendation of a friend. Great choice. I live in a mountain home and the pump I choose to locate in the basement directly below my bedroom. I never hear it at all and now water pressure is equal to good city pressure. Strongly recommend this piece of American quality equipment.
