LEGO 71759 NINJAGO Ninja Dragon Temple Set with Toy Motorbike, Kai, Nya and Snake Warrior Minifigures, Gift for Kids 4 Plus Years Old

Often Lego bases its playsets around movies or TV shows. In the case of Ninjago, the Lego came first. It was a line developed by Lego that was then made into an animated TV mini series for Cartoon Network by The Lego Group. A film followed. Ninjago as a concept is very interesting. Although designed to appeal even to very young chidren from age 4+, it introduces a fictional place - Ninjago - inspired by Chinese and Japanese mythologies and culture. Kai is the main character - the red ninja of fire - represented in this Ninja Dragon Temple set, with its 161 pieces, as a minifigure. A ninja - like Kai - was the name in feudal Japan for a mercenary or secret agent, who might also be an assassin, adept in martial arts' skills and stealth. All told, there are 4 minifigures in the set - Kai, Mya, Sneaky Snake on a motorbike and Cobra Mechanic with a catapult and spear. Also included in the set is a dragon with posable parts, 2 ninja temples, a pair of posable trees and a dragon's egg inside one of the temples. There are printed picture instructions - but children at the lower end of the age suitability would probably appreciate a little help. Like all Lego sets, the quality is good and the bricks can be used with other Lego. But I suppose what I most like about this set and the Ninjago idea as a whole is that it exposes children early on to ideas from other cultures and plants a seed. The dragons, the temples, the ninjas - everything may be new and unfamiliar, things from history and from other cultures - or if you're of Chinese or Japanese origin this could be a way of continuing discussions about your own heritage. It's often said that children are like sponges. Can it ever be too soon to introduce them to notions of diversity? This is a great Lego set to really stimulate imagination. Who knows what good stuff might follow?

Good quality but a bit expensive for what you get

This Lego set is superb for any fan of Lego and ninjago. It provides hours of imaginative fun as expected from lego. There are a lot of bricks but the instructions are excellent so the figures are both easy and complex to build. Of course Lego goes so much further than the initial figures. Grey set. Good price. Ticks all the boxes.

Ninjago Dragon Temple set. 71759. Any Ninjago and LEGO fan will love this neat little set. It can be added to other sets in the range to increase the fun. You get four minifigures, a poseable dragon, two temples and trees. There is a dragon's egg in one of the temples. The instructions are clear, with separate bags making everything easier to build. It is recommended for children four years and up. A great little set that would make a great birthday or Christmas gift or for anytime fun.

As well as the famous collections of multicoloured toy bricks that can almost literally be used to build anything, LEGO also produces kits like this one, with specific things to make and then play with, or display. The Ninjago Dragon Temple features some fun elements like motorbike and ninja warriors that are easy to assemble and will provide hours of imaginative play for young construction fans. Recommended.

This is a great lego set. Arrived well packed. Marketing says for age 4 plus. I would say that's OK with lots of adult help. At say 6 years the instructions can be followed. The instructions are clear and as expected lego comes in bags of pieces to help the builder. A Ninjago and LEGO fan will like this set an added bonus is that it can be added to other sets in this range. Very pleased to recommend.
