I’ve been thinking about a dashcam for years but never wanted something stuck to the windscreen with wires trailing down to a power source. Heard about the Fitcamx on a forum and thought I’d take a punt and see if it would be suitable. Very impressed so far, it was reasonably easy to fit with a few caveats - the video instructions on YouTube don’t mention that you need a thin screwdriver to unlock the locking clip on the green plug in the mirror housing, you’d never do it without one. Also, you have to be careful when aligning the camera housing when fitting it into it’s locating tabs as it is easy to get it in one side and not the other, this is due to the flimsiness of the car trim rather than the camera housing. I initially bent one of the tabs on the camera because of this but it is made of a flexible plastic and bent back with no ill effects. Whole job took no more than 10 mins and would’ve been quicker if I knew the screwdriver was required. Picture quality seems good but I’ve no experience with any other dashcam to compare it to. Number plates are easily read in daylight by pausing the video, not easy to see number plates at night due to the reflective nature of plates but I assume this is the same for all dashcam. The app is very easy to use, no problems at all.

The Fitcamx is the perfect dash cam solution as it fits well and doesn't obscure your view and there is no cable dangling down the windscreen. As it fits where the original panel goes, it fits perfectly, and as it takes power from the car loom using a 'Y' cable, there is no searching around for a suitable power source or routing a cable to the fuse box. Picture quality is crisp at 4K and connection to my phone over WiFi was easy to setup.

The camera works well and was quite easy to to fit although a little fiddly and care must be taken to align the clips when attaching the camera unit to the car

Very neat integration doesn’t affect the other sensors and hardly restricts view. No cables to thread through total installation was less than 5 mins. Video quality seems OK. The housing is very cheap plastic - but once installed it’s not noticeable. You pay a big premium for the neat integration.

No es barata pero sí de instalación sencilla y apenas destaca tras el espejo retrovisor. Como graba automáticamente y en continuo con buena resolución a poner en marcha el coche, en caso de siniestro, puede ser útil aportando la grabación.

Pretty easy to put on and looks like stock. Camera quality is great and its pretty easy to access the files.

Produit identique et conforme pour les XC90, très facile à installer, images 4K j’approuve seul bémol c’est concernant l’application on doit à chaque fois se connecter au wifi de la caméra pour avoir accès aux vidéos enregistrées , on ne sait pas les visionner en 4G à voir par les programmeurs si il savent faire quelques chose ?
