Received the mahlepi the next day after ordering. Was so grateful for the quick delivery because I needed to bake my Greek New Year's breads the next day. Very fresh and fragrant spice...

I ordered ground mahleb from Greece and quickly used the small package. It took weeks to arrive from Greece. No complaints there. But I needed a larger size Mahleb so ordered here. Package arrived within 24 hours! A lifetime supply. But the product appears quite different from my other purchase. It may not be as fresh ? But it seems to be lighter with a little fragrance. Figure I'll have to use more but that's ok. 5 ounces goes a long way.

If you like the Mahleb flavor for your bread or other products this version is just GREAT. It's a product of Turkey which is probably the best country to currently obtain this spice. The very best country of origin for the spice is Syria, however due to the current war there it's just not available. As I said in the title this is an unusual flavor and not something you would buy blind and use. If you like Mahler this is a great version.

We use this in making braided cheese and was pleasantly surprised with the freshness of this spice as well as the value for the money.

Be very careful about using this sellers food! I bought the ground Mahleb with the intention of making sweet bread. While twisting the cap off the container I heard crunching/cracking sounds so I carefully lifted the cap and saw the aluminum seal was twisted and bunched up on one side. Looking at the underside of the cap I could see MOLD!! I then lifted the seal and saw what was supposed to be ground Mahleb which smelled like soap, moldy soap! I don't know what is in the jar but, in my opinion, it's not 'pure mahleb' as the label reads. You can see that the seal is bunched up on the right side of the picture which conforms to the pattern on the underside of the cap. That shows me that seal was never actually sealed to the rim of the container.

Very nice quality and smells delightful. It's quite a lot as well. This is a must if you want to make tsoureki!

make's cake taste good

The smell is not that distinctive but if you use a bit more in your recipe you get the full taste. Undeniably it is value for money
