Rothco Buffalo Plaid Flannel Long Sleeve Shirt – Casual Button-Down with Heavyweight 8-oz Cotton Material

Before I ordered this shirt ( I have all five colors), I read the reviews, especially the negative reviews. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical, but I decided to go ahead and order the shirt since it was the style and weight of flannel shirt that I had been looking for. I am very happy to report that I am quite pleased with the weight, materials, fit, and overall quality of the shirt! Most of the negative comments centered around problems with shrinkage and "pill" formation after washing. Some people even reported the shirt shrinking by as much as two sizes. After having the shirts for almost a month and having washed and dried each of them twice (I actually launder my new clothes BEFORE I wear them), I have to say that it is my opinion that these claims of such radical shrinkage are rather exaggerated. If you wash and dry the shirts ACCORDING TO THE CARE INSTRUCTIONS, you should have no problems with the shirts retaining their original size with only the most minimal of shrinkage. Just as an additional data point, I ordered three of these shirts in a size large for my partner, who is a different body type from me, and there were NO ISSUES with shrinkage or fit after also being laundered twice. Also, the were no issues with fabric forming pills after washing. I realize that this might step on the toes of those who might have claims of shrinking, pill formation, and durability issues, but I have to say that those issues most likely can be traced back to the individuals not washing the shirts properly. I realize that people have their own personal methods of washing clothes, but you have to remember that the care instructions for a particular garment are provided for a reason -- to help you maintain the garment properly and to get the most life out of the garment. If you do that when caring for these shirts, you should have no issues with them looking and fitting great for a long time!

While I wish it was a wool base, rather than cotton, I still love it. It's a staple of M workwear diring cooler weather. Heavyweight and durable, it has held up well to a fall and winter of hard wear. Very warm, very comfortable, and still looks as good as the day I bought it, in spite of some very dirty and hard use. Only downside I could possibly give is that it does run a touch large, but in practicality it is fine because there's a little more room for a baselayer underneath. Been a fan of the couple of Rothco products I've purchased. Not the cheapest price, but the quality of what I've received so far justifies it every time for me. Very satisfied.

I was looking for a good heavy flannel to wear as an over shirt or light jacket. This green/black buffalo plaid Rothco shirt turned out to be exactly what I had in mind. I wear a 2X, but bought the 3X in case of shrinkage. I plan on line drying it as thats my only option for all my laundry anyway. Even if it were not to shrink the 3X size is a good fit as a light jacket. I will definitely buy more of these Rothco flannels, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good heavy flannel. Update, first washing in warm water and line drying shrunk these shirts about one size down. That is what I intended on so now the fit is perfect.

I wanted a purple buffalo plaid/check flannel shirt. This is the best value of what’s available. BIG XL, closer to a 2XL in fit. I tried on both the L and the XL at my local store but was advised to go with the larger size due to shrinkage potential. Possibly shrunk a little after the first wash, and I followed the care instructions to the letter. Instructions stipulate, “Do not tumble dry”, so i hung it up and waited. Afterwards, it’s still big and baggy, though possibly a little less so. Will wait a few more washes cycles to figure out if I want or need to get it tailored... as it fit out of the package, I’d like it tailored a bit. Definitely NOT a slim fit. Expect it to come like an old school flannel, big and boxy. THICK, warm flannel material. Definitely more substantial than the thin fashion flannels available at the mall and discount stores. The fabric is good for the price, maybe even excellent if you can pick one of these up for $25-$30. That’s about what they sell for in my neck of the woods, though I paid more for this one because my local military surplus guy carries these but wouldn’t order me the purple 🤣 one. The buttons though.... they are fine for function, but they look VERY cheap and cheesy. If you want to wear the shirt out on a date or something, you’d probably want to replace the buttons, which I’ll probably do as well. This is going to be a $75 shirt when I’m done with replacing buttons and getting it tailored 🤣 which seems crazy though, for what it is.

This shirt is supremely comfortable, has good buttons, is durable "for cotton flannel" & is made well with good thick material. However you may want to buy a size or two bigger. Because, even on a cold wash it shrinks incredibly. At least (2) sizes smaller. Particularly in the sleeves. Incredibly iconic & stylish. Fantasic garment over all, but will shrink after washing.

I am happy with the color and sizing of this shirt. I ordered a mens small. the arms are a bit long which is great as once I wash it I am sure they won't be that long. The quality of the product is awesome. Heavier weight than the other plaid shirt. Delivery seemed to take for ever. I love the color as it is true to the pictures.

Although I love the colour and fit of the shirt I found that the description a little misleading. Being someone raised in Canada we know plaid shirts,and in no way is this a extra heavy weight shirt.
