Great Full Face Respirator for CBRN Threats
Mira Safety's CM-6M is overall a well-built and effective respirator mask for CBRN survival purposes. A robust build and effectiveness as a respirator provide peace of mind for anyone worried about CBRN threats.Visor- The visor is, simply put, massive. The visor takes up almost all the front face of the respirator and provides a very wide field of view with little to no fogging. This wide FOV enables crucial situational awareness but has a couple of drawbacks.-Stock Weld & Eye Relief: With no soft material around the cheek and a non-recessed visor, it is difficult to achieve any sort of proper stock weld or attain eye relief when using rifle optics (outside of open red dots).-NOD* Compatibility: The lack of visor recess makes it challenging to use helmet-mounted NODs*Night Optic DeviceMaterial, Durability, & Fit- Butyl plastic, the gold standard for CBRN respirators, is thick, durable, and flexible enough to ensure a strong seal. While I have not had this respirator long enough to assess its durability, based on my experience with similar masks, its construction feels robust and long-lasting – provided it is properly stored and maintained.Fit: This respirator fits and seals a variety of face sizes. Both my girlfriend – who is significantly smaller than me – and I were able to achieve a proper seal and comfortable fit.Accessories- The included drinking system works as advertised. It is a CBRN-rated canteen system with a straw / hose that is simple and effective. While it does not come with a filter or with a carrying case, I think it is worth noting that the MIRA Safety respirator pouch is a worthwhile investment. I can keep this respirator, a spare filter, and my CBRN kit stored securely in the carrying case with no issue and still belt / drop-leg mount it comfortably.Respirator Effectiveness- I verified the seal using the positive / negative pressure test* and the respirator works as intended. It compares to the effectiveness of my previously issued gas mask in the US Marine Corps. I also tested the respirator, along with a MIRA Safety filter, using a chemical and particle test. Both airborne cleaners and particulates failed to permeate the mask or filter. Without any CS gas, this was the full extent of my ability to test the respirator.Overall, the MIRA Safety CM-6M is a solid choice for those seeking reliable CBRN protection. While it is not ideal for tactical applications due to visor-related limitations, it is well-suited for more practical emergency situations, such as:-Chemical spills (highway crashes / train derailments)-Polluted air conditions-Disease outbreaksFor those prioritizing situational awareness and general-purpose CBRN protection, the CM-6M is a highly capable respirator.

It’s the real deal
Coming from the Marine Corps, this is just like the mask we used and trained with. It fits snuggly with the adjustable straps. It’s pretty comfortable to wear, it functions well and you can breath almost like normal. It feels very durable and protects against multiple things. I like to use it while wood working, and my wife will use it when I blow the toilet up.

almost perfect
high quality. Without question, a product you can trust your life with. However, I was not happy with the hydration set up so i bought a camel back water bladder to improve it.

CERTIFIED Mask. Vital Piece of Gear for Bug Out Bag.
Look, this is one of those things you buy as assurance for when SHTF. You may never need to use it, but it's better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.And you could save money by buying cheaper alternatives, but how do you know they will actually work when the time comes?I don't mind paying a couple hundred dollars if it means I'm getting a CBRN-D certified mask that's made using butyl rubber (which is proven to provide superior protection against chemicals) and has been tested against chemicals commonly found in chemical weapons. If you look at other protective masks listed on Amazon, they may use trigger words like "survival" or "emergency preparedness", but they steer clear of using the acronym "CBRN" in order to avoid legal trouble for their general purpose safety masks made out of silicone.Mira's masks are direct civilian version's of masks used by various military and law enforcement agencies (which means they share almost all, if not all, of the same certifications). You're getting military grade equipment at a competitive price compared to other well-known brands (such as Avon, which makes great products but very pricey). The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the strap webbing. While I was in the military, I was issued an Avon M50, and the webbing on Avon's masks has an additional pull strap in the center of the back that allows for much quicker donning. We would have our masks prepared by folding the webbing over the lens so that as soon as you heard "GAS GAS GAS" all you had to do was smash your face into the mask and use that strap to pull the webbing over your head. Mira's masks take a little longer since you have to slide your head between the webbing and mask, then cinch the straps down. And when it comes to chemical attacks, literally every second matters. If they ever add that strap to the webbing, this would be a 5-star gas mask.
