Dk Eyewitness Greece, Athens & the Mainland (Dk Eyewitness Travel Guide)

Helpful, easy to read, good insight to compare to websites of the various attractions. Timely information as I bought it for a trip to Greece in June 2019.

I took this everywhere with me on my Greece trip earlier this year and it came in handy with good info, without falling apart! Glad I bought it!

The small print in the book would be okay if it were black. It's not!

As always they cover the area very well. It makes planning a trip much easier. The pictures and illustrations are of highest quality. It is a wonderful way to 'remember' your trip.

I purchased this book in preparation for a two-week vacation to Greece. Normally, I shun the picture-laden guides and go with the dense, text heavy ones, like Lonely Planet; however, I was surprised at the amount of help that DK Eyewitness’s Travel Guide for Greece Athens & the Mainland provided. The pull-out map of Athens was a lifesaver during our navigation of an unfamiliar city in a country that uses a non-Latin alphabet (my girlfriend and I are both native English speakers). Despite my prejudices, DK Eyewitness did a great job of providing information about Athens in particular and traveling in Greece in general. The photography was excellent and helped us to narrow down our must-see attractions. We did additional research online to complement the information in the book, but the Eyewitness Travel Guide did a great job of giving us a launching point for our trip-planning. I also purchased DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: The Greek Islands for that leg of the trip; my review of that book will be on its product page.

Great book with lots of details and photos.

To find so much information within the covers of one quite slim book is very useful indeed. Obviously it cannot cover everywhere. For example I was in Chalkida (ancient Chalkis) and found nothing on this fascinating small town, the place where Aristotle died on the farm that had belonged to his mother, and which also has a bridge that has to be lifted at set times to allow flotillas of boats through; great fun to watch. My husband was very gratified to find his bronze statue of Byron featured in the article relating to Mesolonghi! I bought it, principally, to have the information at my finger tips on opening hours of museums, somewhat idiosyncratic in Greece, and also nearest stations, bus info etc. A wonderful buy - worth every penny!

A brilliant and easy to use travel guide. Earlier on a visit to Greece, I had borrowed a copy from a friend and found it to be very interesting and useful

Excellent book. Do remember that this does not cover the Greek islands!

If you're visiting Greece, this is a must have. It gives a good overview of what to do and where to visit. Have a couple of other travelling book of this series and I really like. It contains maps, history, culture, travelling tips, sightseeing highlights ...all a traveler needs to know in a nut-shell. Recommend.
