Inspired by a classic Joseon legend from Korea's first collection of unofficial historical tales, about a fisherman who capture and kidnapped a mermaid, this drama tells the love story between the son of a Joseon noble family named Kim Dam-ryeong (Lee Min-ho) and a mermaid he named Se-hwa (Jun Ji-hyun). When Dam-ryeong was a kid, he almost drowned but was saved by a mermaid. Following the incident, they became friends and Dam-ryeong named her Se-hwa, after his younger sister. They ended up falling in love, but one day Dam-ryeong was forced by his family to marry another girl. Devastated by the news, Se-hwa decides to leave Dam-ryeong forever and erased all his memories of her and their love. However, fate brings them back together and they tried to escape from humans who were going to separate them. Fearing that the same ill-fate that afflicts himself and Se-hwa will replay itself, Dam-ryeong sends an artifact to be discovered in the future to try and warn his future self. The fates of Dam-ryeong and Se-hwa become entwined with their modern-day incarnations. Dam-ryeong was reborn as Heo Joon-jae, a charming con-artist. He meets a mermaid who looks like Se-hwa (whom he later named Shim Cheong) in Spain, and she was quickly besotted by him. Linked by dreams and mysterious artifacts, Joon-jae learns of Dam-ryeong's world and his own fate, as he tries to prevent the same tragedy from befalling. I'm a sucker for mermaids. LOL I bought the DVD as soon as possible! Anyway, I love the story, so sweet, so funny. After this one, I checked out "Love O2O" which is the C-Drama I am currently obsessed with. But I am having trouble finding it on DVD that can be watched with U.S. Region DVD players. Also, being certain it has English subtitles. If any of you know where I can get my hands on a copy, please let me know!

Awesome love story
Oh My Gosh, This video is awesome, I love the music as well. Especially the into of the DVD program. I recommend it. My first K-Drama!
This was my first K-Drama and honestly, I never thought I would be watching one. Both my daughters have been trying to get me into them without success until I happened to be visiting as my youngest was watching this one and I got sucked in! It was the mermaid that did it. I'm a sucker for mermaids. LOL I bought the DVD as soon as possible! Anyway, I love the story, so sweet, so funny. After this one, I checked out "Love O2O" which is the C-Drama I am currently obsessed with. But I am having trouble finding it on DVD that can be watched with U.S. Region DVD players. Also, being certain it has English subtitles. If any of you know where I can get my hands on a copy, please let me know!

Sweet, Silly and Fun
I had seen this previously and really enjoyed it. I knew I would watch it over and over so I decided to purchase the series. This isn't what I would call serious drama but I loved the characters and it was laugh out loud funny at times. Of course, since its a kdrama, there was a darker element running through it. There is Lee Min Ho who is always a fan favorite, however, I think Jun Ji-hyun was terrific. She is one of my favorites and really a great comedic actress. This is a light hearted and a good movie for those new to kdramas.

Mermaid Fantasy
I loved this series. The story was terrific, going back & forth between historical times and present time. It was beautifully acted. My only complaint was the female villain over acted her scenes in which she was pretending emotions of hysteria. Lee Min Ho was amazing.

Beautiful Story
Loved the story and actor Lee Min Ho's acting. Great cast. 2 discs had a humming sound during the entire play but was not enough to not watch. Great packaging.

Enjoyable K-Drama
The DVD package arrived on time and in new condition. I enjoyed the show.

Great buy
It was a great drama and I love that when you start a disc it played straight through the episodes without have to stop and start. The English subtitles were easily read and a good size, not to big to cover part of the show not to small so it was hard to read.

Funny and nice story line
I like fantasy and sci-fi and this show is a bit of both. Along with some romance.
