Through much trial and error I've been looking for sun protection to cover my full face, neck and shoulders. This hat does the trick! This hat actually shades my nose, cheeks and lips unlike other wide brim hats and visors I've tried. It's also not floppy and has a sturdy tie that is easy to slide so it stays on. There is plenty of room on top part (the crown) so I can wear my hair up which prevents me from getting "hat hair." The weave is tight and the hat structure is sturdy. It is heavier than wearing a wide brim visor but not by much and it allows for air circulation. I have a smallish head so I was worried that it might be too big for me but to my delight, the elastic band inside makes it a perfect fit for me, although I can see myself using a bandana as a headband if I feel like it gets too loose. Another possibility is to purchase foam hat size reducers that stick on under the interior hat band if necessary. I don't know how it will fit larger heads, but it could very well be adapted to different size noggins. I hesitated due to the price but I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of this fun and functional hat!Update: I thought it would be helpful to show pictures showing measurements and share more details. First, the circumference of my head where the hat band lands on my head is about 21 inches. Also, I thought I'd try wearing a folded up bandana around my forehead underneath the hat and found that the hat definitely fit more snug and found it to be very comfortable with the bandana although, it also works fine, just a little looser, without the bandana. My guess is that the hat will still fit larger heads but possibly fit higher than on my head? Hope this helps!

I work outside in SW FL, so a good hat is a must. This hat provides plenty of shade, while also being comfortable AND stylish.It leaves some breathing room between top of head and top of hat.I usually wear a size L/XL with hats, and this one fit me perfectly, not to snug, while also not too loose. Might not be ideal for ppl with small heads.Also very durable, good strong material and doesn't mind getting a little wet.If I had to pick a downside, the hat isn't very portable. You probably won't be able to wear it while driving a car because the seat will get in the way. I wasn't able to wear it with a beach chair strapped to my back because of how wide it is.If you want a bunch of shade, this is the hat to go. If you want something more versatile, and with different size options, perhaps another one would be a better choice.Its definitely worth trying though, especially since Amazon has such a good return policy.

I bought this hat in 2021. A 3” part of the brim started to come unsewn in 2025, so I thought I’d get another. It has large brim and fits my bobble head. Excellent sun protection. I wish the straw was a bit more tightly woven for the price, but I am going to get a second one.

Returned as the larger brim, while what I thought I wanted, simply restricted my movement too much. Seems to be high quality and packaged well.

Served its purpose shaded me well! So glad I bought it. Warning- it’s a really big hat so if you’re looking for a small hat this is not! It is strong and sturdy not flimsy you can’t fold it. I love it. Only wished it came with a satin liner- I have locs and it occasionally snagged my hair but will be wearing all summer long!!!!!

Every summer I buy for my husband so he doesn’t get fried in the Arizona Sun. Great purchase they hold up real well. He does wear it out every year though.

I love it! I’m extremely pale, and need coverage from sun. I’ve already got regular hats. They work okay, but always run short on full coverage. This hat does not. It’s big, like a sombrero. But not as silly looking... well, maybe half as silly looking. But the body is sturdy, the cap has vent holes and there’s a wide elastic band for your forehead. I have a lot of hair, and tend to wear it up on top of my head. If I use an alligator clip, it doesn’t fit in the hat because of the divot in the center of the cap. It fits just fine if I put my hair in braids or only pin it loose on top of my head. Plenty of room. And, I have a big, wide head. I usually have to buy men’s hats. This one fits well, and between the elastic brim and drawstring, I think it would fit just fine on a normal sized woman’s head as well. The straw is woven well. And there’s a nice long drawstring to anchor it with, or for hanging it up. Straw is naturally water repellent, to some extent. If I need it to be more repellent, I will spray it down with a repellent, and that should work fine. The brim slopes down so it provides shade and would be able to control water runoff. Also, FYI, not a hat for windy days. It’s basically a sail. Don’t do it.When the first hat I purchased arrived, it had defects on the brim. The piece of edging used to cover the rough edges had been sewn poorly and strings were loose or bunched. This was obviously a machine malfunction and it hadn’t been caught by quality control. But the owner returned my message immediately, by phone, and sent me a new replacement hat for free, and I didn’t have to return the first one. The second hat was perfect and no defects. Very good customer service! I love my hat!
