Glad I chose the ED273!
I had been shopping and comparing features and qualities for a gaming monitor for about 6 months – I wanted: 27” to 32”, curved, 4K and hi-refresh rate – there are a few to compare and size up at those specs – once I understood the panel types (IPS, VA and TN), free-sync and all that, I knew what to look for and at what price –The monitors amazon carried, that I liked, are: a couple of MSI models, Acer, Sceptre, BenQ just to name a few – since this is my first BIG, late model gaming monitor, refresh rate was important – also quality and resolution – then price – here’s what I found: a lot of comparable features from known brands – and varied pricing –I decided not to go with 4K since refresh was nominal 60 hz and any faster was way expensive – so, I decided to go with 2K and 144 hz – once I carefully considered my space and proximity, 27” would be excellent (it’s actually huge) – so with that, I narrowed the field to Acer, Sceptre and MSI (specs and price) -Having read the reviews, all 3 were rated 4 stars by hundreds of buyers - The MSI models were not sold thru amazon prime and would take over a week to arrive, and they’re kinda pricy (rgb and other fancies) – the Sceptre was over $70 more than the Acer, with all the same specs – so, I chose the Acer ED273 – the most recent reviews said the Acer was a very good choice and I agreed that this has the best features and value – I was right! This is a great monitor, it was ready to play right out of the box and, overall, it has exceeded my expectations –Here’s a few things of interest: build quality, excellent - overall aesthetics: thin bezel, slim design (no big bulges), nice finish, flat matt screen, just right curve, excellent picture quality – the stand is heavy with a metal base and reinforced vertical post and mount (vesa 100) –My only gripe would be the separate power brick – but for the price, I’m OK with it – the port sockets are located center-back facing down – this makes it difficult to find and insert the video and power connectors – you’ll also get an HDMI and DP cable each – tried as I might, I couldn’t find any info on cable length (my desktop setup requires a longer cable, at least 6’), so instead of ordering a longer cable, I’d wait and see if the shipped cables would work – they didn’t – they are about 4’ long – a little short for me – so I used a 6’ HDMI cable I had laying around until I received an ordered 6’ DP cable from prime (about $10) – on HDMI the refresh is capped at 120 hz – with the DP cable I’m now using, refresh is the full 144 hz –So, overall, I’m very happy with the Acer ED273 – quality, features and price combine to make this an excellent buy – it comes packaged double boxed and incapsulated in foam, plastic film and protective cloth - 5 stars!

Great monitor for gaming on a budget
Is this a perfect gaming monitor? By no means... but if you aren't expecting the world and are looking for a GOOD budget monitor for gaming that isn't going to break the bank you can't go wrong. If you are worried about longevity get the squaretrade coverage like I did.Definitely has a high-end look and feel, image is very crisp and clear and the monitor is bright as balls. Very minimal bezel around the display and the controls are accessed via a small joystick/button the back of the monitor which I find to work rather well. It includes HDMI, DVI, and Displayport inputs, as well as audio inputs but I'm not using the speakers in mine so I can't comment on the quality. I presume they sound about like $200 monitor speakers would sound so probably not very Bose-esque. There is some visible light leak when the display is on a black screen but honestly this isn't really noticeable when playing games, at least not to me anyway so it's not something I care about. Also the LCD panel gets a little darker right at the left and ridge edges about 1/8 inch from the bezel but again not hugely noticeable (see 2nd photo)I have yet to find any dead pixels although as per the manual it's only guaranteed that 99.95% of the pixels will function which is strange but okay. I did have some issues with the initial setup. I first connected it with displayport and it kept saying there was no input. Rebooted the PC and monitor and same thing so I switched to a DVI cable (not included) and it worked fine. I tried the DP cable again about an hour later and it worked, no issues since.Don't let negative reviews dissuade you. This is not a bad monitor for the money and something like 3-5% of electronics fail out of the box so all the people saying "MY monitor didn't work so they're all junk!!!" are just a bit short-sighted. Also shipping carriers like to throw stuff around so that add's to the DOA numbers I'm sure.

Excellent, an immediate noticable improvement
Let me preface this review by saying I am not by any means an e sports gamer nor a hardcore PC fan. Up until last year I gamed on laptops. Gaming is a hobby for me, not a source of income, so my needs may be less than that of a professional streamer. When I first got my gaming PC set up and ready I was so happy with it and loved the improvement from my laptop. I was originally using a 32 inch monitor from Best Buy and I loved it and didn't notice much issue at first. However, as I started playing more and different games I noticed a significant increase in screen tearing, glitching, slow load times, and issues with screen resolution for certain games. I realized after some research that I had bought a freesync monitor not a gsync monitor. Prior to that I had no clue what either of those things really meant. I didn't think it could possibly make much difference what monitor I used, and I thought bigger = better for screen size.I was so, so wrong. After doing some searching I chose this monitor for the value. Once I got it hooked up the difference was apparent *immediately*, even just with simple things like the smoothness of movement for the mouse icon. With games the graphics were immediately clearer, load times were cut to only a few seconds, the screen tearing and stuttering was completely gone, my fps could stay steadier at higher rates, and I no longer had issues with funky text sizes/clarity due to the resolution. This monitor completely changed my pc gaming experience and I couldn't be happier!

Very adequate 144 hz monitor for gaming
The biggest con I noticed with this monitor is the amount of ghosting. The ghosting makes it almost unplayable (using a 1 ms monitor as a reference). However, putting the Overdrive setting into Extreme fixed the ghosting, with very little artifacting that is barely noticeable. The second biggest con is the default picture settings. Out of the box the image was heavily biased towards the blue and green spectrum and was very dim. Putting the brightness to max and reducing the blue and the green colors fixed the issue. After doing those 2 things, I found the monitor very adequate for gaming. In terms of picture quality, I found very little difference between this and the AOC G2460VQ6, which is a TN panel. I expected a bigger difference since the VA panel in this supposedly sports a 3000:1 static contrast ratio versus the TN panel's 1000:1, but I can barely notice a difference when compared side-by-side with my TN monitor. This monitor is only "very adequate" for gaming due to its higher input lag which is 14 ms according to one source. To put into perspective, the best gaming monitors have an input lag of ~10 ms. As it so happens, my AOC monitor also has an input lag of 10 ms. Theoretically, 144 hz is supposed to give an advantage of ~6.4 ms over a 75 hz monitor, but with the additional input lag, that advantage is reduced to ~2.4 ms over my monitor, making the greater clarity in high-motion action its only strong point for gaming. If this monitor is much cheaper than other 144 hz monitors (which it was), then it's a good value for the money, but I would otherwise not choose it over a monitor with a lower input lag as the supposedly better picture quality is barely noticeable.
