Zip-Tie Style Suturing Device
Outer box contains two (2) individually sterile wound closure devices measuring 2-inches-long X 2 1/8-inch wide, with a three (3) year shelf life indicated on packaging. Instead of having traditional threaded sutures (after severe bleeding has been stopped on a deep slash), you apply the adhesive bandage gap over the centerline of the wound to be closed, and then tighten the three (3) zip closures to pull the edges of the wound together. Trim the excess length of the plastic zip tie, and cover the whole area with a protective bandage wrap.Around 11 and 1/2 bucks apiece (at time of writing), these are not inexpensive, but if professional medical care is not immediately available, these can be a workable option. Biggest issue I have with them is that each single-unit paper-backed sterile packaging is huge for an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) - measuring 6 1/4-inches long x 4-inches wide (U.S. Quarter Dollar shown for sizing comparison). Personally, I’ll stick with super Cyanoacrylate type glue in my individual IFAK and keep these emergency closures in my large at-home medical supply kit. Thanks for indicating if you’ve found my photos and comments helpful in your consideration of this item.

Great for preppers, hiking, etc. Much easier to use than suture/staple
- Made in China- Sterile EO- Incls rather good info on how to useI have some of these in a different size from this brand so I was quite happy to see these pop up in Vine. They are fantastic.I don't know how new this is but it's really clever. It's little zip ties so you can place and size it to your needs. While it works wonderful on my booboo, I've already put these on my prep list as well. I can suture and I also have staples, but this kind of thing will be much easier to use and easier to store and carry, as well. Less delicate than suture equipment, less bulky than staplers, and much more simple to use so no training needed. It's very simple. You can cut them any size needed. Place, zip, and trim the excess tie. The adhesive is very good. The adhesive part itself is waterproof but there is no membrane of any kind between the two adhesive patches. If you need to wound to stay dry, any simple cover will work fine.Very good stuff for preppers, camping, hiking, farm life, just very useful.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice at no cost to you. Other brands are more complete
"Zip stitches" are like a cross between butterfly closures and zip ties. You adhere the two halves on either side of your laceration and pull the tails to zip the bandage tighter in order to close the wound. They work much like stitches to keep things closed, clean, and ready to heal as scar free as possible, without the trip to the hospital and the needle. They are great but keep in mind though that they are no substitute for professional medical attention. The functionality of these of course depends on a quality adhesive. This is a bit difficult to fully evaluate without an actual wound to test them on over a number of days, but I did test them by adhering them to my arm and tensioning them. The zip portion functioned as it should, and the adhesive held while under tension. There was no irritation or adhesive residue left on my skin, though that may change if left on for days.It is also worth noting that many kits here on Amazon include alcohol prep pads, swabs, gloves, as well as dressings to put over the closure once it has been applied. Theses kits do NOT include those items, and actually cost more than others as well. Considering you will definitely need the other pieces, this is less handy for adding to a medical kit and a poor value when compared to others.

Excellent for home medicine chest + first aid kits, well designed & EZ to use....
These are a great addition to first aid kits for the home & car. I received the set of 2 medium-sized wound closure devices for the purposes of review. Each one is roughly twice the size of a standard bandaid. They are quite easy to use, which is exactly what is needed in an emergency situation. The hasp (bridge) portion is positioned to span the cleaned injury after bleeding has been stopped, and the adhesive portion (each one about the size of a bandaid) pressed into place on each side. The tension can be adjusted with three small zip-ties to securely hold the edges of the wound closed. This seems suitable for a fairly large wound. For a very long laceration, another device can be placed adjacent to the first. There is a pamphlet with some basic instructions included in the box, but of course it would be better to become familiar with the bandage before it might be needed. Each bandage is individually wrapped and has an expiration date (the box I received is viable until March, 2025) and each is marked as sterile until opened (unless package has been damaged). The sterilization method is ethylene oxide. The current price of $22.99 does seem quite high for only two devices ($11.50 each) but definitely worth having on hand, just in case of an emergency and access to medical care is not available.

Very clever, same idea as butterfly bandages, but a lot easier in practice
These are very clever, same idea as butterfly bandages, but a lot easier in practice. They are pricey, but if you need one, they are probably worth it.Of course you need to clean the wound thoroughly, but these are good for the “do we or don't we maybe need a stitches” situations. The packaging is way too large, making it hard to put in our bug out medical kit.
