The Celestron Dew Heater Ring is a precision-engineered aluminum accessory designed exclusively for 8” Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain, EdgeHD, and RASA telescopes. It replaces the retaining ring to deliver consistent, 12V DC-powered heat that prevents dew buildup on your telescope’s corrector plate. Featuring integrated cable clips for neat management and a lightweight, durable frame, this heater ring ensures uninterrupted, high-quality viewing and imaging sessions even in the most moisture-prone environments.

First Use-First Impression
I actually read the instructions before the package arrived, even though it seemed unmanly to do that. Installation was a snap. I bought it to replace the DIY heater made with Nichrome wire from a toaster and a cheap PCM controller from Amazon. It worked, but it lacked class. The Celestron heater works and has class. Dew is a nearly constant problem between the coastal marine layer and the radiation fogs from the Valley. I have heaters on all my scopes and "on" is the default position. Only one night's use so far, but it does look as if the Celestron heater ring is up to the job. The inline controller is smaller than the variable controller I was using, which makes cable routing much easier and neater.

Helps see the stars instead of moisture
I have a very nice telescope. The problem is the condensation on the lens (all). I use it in central Florida at our retreat out in the country. The moisture is terrible for scopes at wee hours of the morning and I have not been able to use this wonderful scope ( all computerized) for over a year because of the parts I wanted were made in Russia by a small business i learned about on telescope Web sites, but the Russian war made it impossible to buy it until they moved part of their business to USA just for Americans. I saw this and could not wait to get it for my scope. Works like a Florida dream. Highly recommend if you watch the stars late at night for hours. Just have a good battery (deep cell) to keep your tele warm.

Very nice.
It looks great, fits and works perfectly and it's very reasonably priced. I wish the controller for it was more affordable.

Great Dew Heater but Proprietary Thermal Sensor
It was easy to install and I love the idea of the ring rather than dew straps. The dust cover fits with the new dew ring installed. However, you have to install & remove the clip every time in order to put the cover on. The price was fair for a ring this size (I have the 8"). My only other concern is the sensor is not universal, would've been 5 stars otherwise. Celestrton says it works with their controller which is, IMO, very expensive. You can use it without their controller at full power but that will use a lot of battery power...or you can make your own PWM controller. It will not be a "Smart" controller like the expensive Celestron but it will save your battery. There are many YT videos. I bought a few parts here on Amazon and made my own for about $5 net cost. FYI, I had to buy some items in bulk, such as 3x PWMs, 5x project boxes, 12x DC5521 ports. Also with a home made PWM, you have to play with the setting to see what works. The smart controller is great because it automates that, but I'm quite happy with my $5 controller. I've used it successfully a few times so far.

Made well
Installation on my 9.25 sct was straightforward. High quality design. Only issue i had was putting the scope cover back on. If you put your scope vertical it goes on easier.

Great product for SCT.
Top quality and does what it's supposed to do. Works well with the Thousand Oak dew heater controller. Easy to install.

The Celestron Dew Heating Ring is an absolute must-have for anyone who uses their telescope regularly, especially in humid or cool environments. After dealing with dew forming on my corrector plate during several observing sessions, this heating ring has been a game-changer. Installation was straightforward, and it integrates seamlessly with my. The heating is gentle and evenly distributed across the corrector plate, keeping it dry and clear throughout the night. I especially love that it doesn’t require constant monitoring—it just works. Pairing it with a Celestron power controller gives you more flexibility in adjusting the heat levels based on the conditions of the night. Since using this, I’ve had far fewer interruptions in my sessions, which has greatly enhanced my stargazing experience. Highly recommended for all astronomers who want to make the most out of every night, regardless of dew conditions!
