Useful and works well but make sure it has the functions you need
Firstly, I didn't buy this on Amazon but wanted to add a review anyway. This is effectively a mini computer with various software modules for car systems fault diagnosis and the hardware to talk to the ECUs in the car. Before use I went to the icarsoft website and updated the various modules. Connecting to the car was easy. Just plug into the OBD port which provides the power for the unit, then turn on the ignition to enable communication. Some functions you can do with the engine off, such as read and reset fault codes, others such as reading live data need the engine running. For my needs this has been perfect but I wish I bought a model from higher up the range with more service functions such as battery management system reset. Anyway, I was interested in fuel rail pressure and expected/desired fuel rail pressure. My previous ELM Bluetooth dongle provided the pressure but not the expected pressure (and none of the error codes this device showed me - all genuine stemming from a clutch replacement). Seeing both together meant I could rule out a fuel pressure issue as the cause of an intermittent fault and focus on the aging battery instead. On my version just PCM monitoring has 322 parameters. I haven't looked at the parameters for the other 15 control modules but I'm sure they'll be comprehensive too. One word of caution. Read the function list carefully because icarsoft have pitched different functions at each price point. As you pay more you get more functions or a bigger database of cars. It pays to think what you need now or might need in the future before deciding.
