Pretty Good
Overall this is a great unit, especially at this price point. It is well-made and very sturdy. The build quality is not what you would see in a $2K unit, but it does exceed its price point. There is plenty of room for played storage and it is easy to get to and take off/on the bar. The bar rotates easily and locks into place with no issues. Some of the other reviews mentioned the bar movement along the slides was difficult or sticky. This one does use ball bearings in the slide, but indeed it can get a little jittery at times. It is not as smooth as I would like. It is not horrible, but you will notice it on occasion. I mitigate this by keeping the slides clean and wiped down, and I have found the WD-40 Dry Lube works wonders. I typically give a light spray every other use.Assembly was pretty straightforward, the hardware is labeled well. The instructions have some steps that should be split into 2 tasks instead of 1 large task. The same number of plates on this machine seem heavier than it does in a free-weight scenario. Could be just my imagination, this machine does not have counterweights, so that may have something to do with it.Overall great machine, with lots of potential. If the slides were just a bit better, it’d be perfect. Still, great bang for the buck.

Good assembly instructions, solid bare-bones home smith machine for beginner/intermediate lifter
I've assembled several pieces of home gym equipment over the past couple of years, and this one was the best to assemble by far. I did it by myself in a couple of hours, and it would have been even easier had I had another set of hands to help (there are some awkward steps that would be easier with 2 people, but its certainly doable with just one person). The instructions are great and the hardware is laid out and labelled by step #, which makes assembly a breeze and actually quite enjoyable if you like that sort of thing. The machine itself is better quality than I was expecting, and it looks nice. It was pretty well-packed, but the package was a bit beat up and there were some cosmetic imperfections due to shipping, but no damage that cause it to be unusable.Immediately upon assembly I was disappointed with the up/down sliding action, but I re-tightened all of the bolts and greased the shiny uprights and now it's smooth as butter. As long as you don't angle one side of the bar higher than the other, it glides up and down without any issues and it's easy to rack/re-rerack. My machine seems pretty stable and there is hardly any wobble at all, although I suspect if you lifted really heavy and loaded it anywhere near capacity it would probably wobble if you started pushing on the sides. It's more stable than I was expecting it to be.If you are looking for a very simple smith machine to help with your workout and you aren't going to be lifting super heavy, this is a good budget option that has a relatively small footprint in the home gym. I can't speak to adding accessories to it as that's not something I researched or plan to do.My one complaint is that the knurling on the bar isn't aggressive (it's not really knurling at all, but some small diamond-shaped indentions, which look nice but don't really do anything), so if your hands are sweaty it's harder to twist and re-rack.

I am glad I waited for this one...
Because it is a quality built piece of equipment for a very affordable price! It took about 4 hours to assemble but all the parts were there and marked for easy reference. It says that it holds up to 1,000 lbs but given my age it will never be taxed with that amount but I can see it being loaded with at least 400 lbs in the near future. This unit uses what are called "standard" plates, i.e., they have one inch holes. I have well over a thousand pounds of standard plates so not having to buy Olympic plates is a bonus to me.I train at home and I needed a Smith Machine that uses the weight plates I have not the weight plates I have to buy! This one does just that. There is a pull-up/chin-up bar on both sides of the top of the frame and it is sturdy enough to easily support a 200+ pound person. Once assembled and leveled using metal shims where needed, and your area may not need that but my garage did and I used 1.25 lb plates that worked perfectly for me, I lubricated the sliding arms with graphite and the machine works as advertised. This is a fantastic value in a quality built Smith Machine. My son and my son-in-law both use it too. I also bought an adjustable bench and can do seated shoulder presses, bench presses, bent-over barbell rows, squats calf raises and anything else any smith machine can do and the safety afforded by the sturdy catches gives me peace of mind when I train alone.Delivery was on time and done by two courteous gentlemen. Every thing about this purchase was outstanding!Highly recommended? YES! Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

Bad Design
First, the package arrived damaged and the Weight Plate Holders and Weight Plate Holder Sleeves were missing. But to make matters worse the actual machine doesn't function properly. I spent hours assembling it just to find out that the barbell doesn't glide smoothly at all. Complete waste of time. I didn't notice it before, but other Smith Machines have cylinder/round glide rods. This one has cube/square glide rods and they constantly catch—terrible design. You can't even use it. Why would they make it like this? You get what you pay for, I guess... But in that case, this is one expensive giant pullup bar when I wanted a Smith Machine. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning it.

It was so easy to put together. This is sturdy and the rollers are smooth! Perfect for my home gym. Still waiting on a few more weights but very excited to have this as apart of my equipment!
