Q: Why does this seaweed come with a cancer warning label?

Seaweed (at least from some waters) is naturally high in cancer-causing chemicals like arsenic and cadmium and lead. So products sold somewhere like CA may be required to carry a warning.

Q: Why do I have to rinse this before using it? I can't just throw it into a cup of ramen?

I never rinsed it before I threw it into water....don't see why you can't just throw it into ramen..... :)

Q: Do you need to cook it before serving?

Not really cook but soak in water for a few minutes for it to soften. It is wonderful with cucumber...!!!

Q: Does this come from the Republic of Korea? Have read that this is where the "best" Wakame comes from. Want to make an informed purchase. Thanks!

I wish it were from Korea. It's actually from China. It probably has a good amount of heavy metals and industrial toxins in it. Who knows? I haven't even had any yet because I'm debating if I should throw it away. China and it's surrounding waters are very polluted. People in china don't even want their own products because they don't trust them. It really is a shame that these products are being allowed into the United States without proper testing and regulations. Anything goes now-a-days in the name of free market capitalism and profits.
