Carry a sharps container in your pocket
Why vets or doctors do not recommend this little guy in lieu of normal sharps containers is beyond me. This thing can hold 1,500 needle tips. I fit like maybe 75-90 syringes into one of the standard sharps containers that you can buy for 2$ at Walmart. With sharps containers you also have to worry about getting rid of it somewhere; some people have said you can get rid of sharps containers at CVS or Walgreens or some other pharmacy but you might also have to pay to get rid of it. This little guy will save you all the trouble and hassle of dealing with that plus you can carry it in your pocket, you use the syringe then clip the needle right away, then can put the syringe in your pocket and not have to worry about it. The only tip I have is to press the syringe against the metal part of the cutter after you cut because there's always a little nib, maybe less than 1 mm, of the needle that gets left over. You press the syringe against the metal part of the clipper and it pushes the needle into the syringe so there's nothing to catch on. Then just throw everything in the trash (not the clipper of course).

Small and easy to use
I used to have one of these that I bought from the vet back when my cat needed to have shots every day. When my cat passed away, I stupidly threw it out. Now I need one for myself. I was very happy to find these on Amazon, plus they are cheaper than at the vet’s office. :-) These are absolutely great! They’re small so they don’t take up much room, approximately 3 inches long by 1 inch across. They are very simple to use. You just pinch the end so that it unlocks, stick the sharp part of the needle into the hole, close the holder which snaps off the point, and you’re done. Then the rest of the syringe can be tossed in the regular garbage. I was told at the vet’s office that these hold up to 1,500 points. I believe it. They seem to go on forever. And I noticed that each one of the two in the package rattled. I believe they were tested before they were shipped. :-) If you don’t want a big, bulky needle holder sitting around, this is the perfect one to use. I absolutely love it.

Safest
I was recommended by my Vet to use this product, it’s safe, I use it twice daily, it clips the needle and remains in the device till full. No needles to throw in the trash, safe and way to use, like nail clippers.

works perfectly for my cat's 26g needles!
This clipper works PERFECTLY to clip the needles from the 26g and 27g needles/syringes I use to give my cat a few injections every week. The needles we use are 0.5" inch in length and the whole needle fits in the clipper perfectly, and after clipping the syringe can safely be disposed of in the trash. Before getting the clipper I was putting the entire needle and syringe (non-removable needles) in to a sharps container, which works but this is so much more convenient and the clipper takes up a LOT less space than a tall sharps container. I love this thing. I know the description says 28-31g, but it clips all the way down to 26g effortlessly!!! I haven't tried clipping anything bigger than a 26g or longer than 1/2".

works great for snipping needles
I had an old one that was getting full, give my cat insulin twice a day. Was glad to find the same brand. It's bigger than my old one but works just as well. Snips the needle off great.

Noise when you shake is normal, biohazard sticker should be there (not "used") & leftover tip is ok
I recently purchase the double pack of these needle clippers and had some concerns after reading the 1 star reviews. The first thing I noticed was the noise when you shake it, which sounds like there might be clipped needles inside. Since I bought 2, I checked my second clipper and it made the exact same sound when you shake it. I called BD's customer support line and they explained that the noise is NOT other needle tips rolling around, but a bearing inside to help with the open/closing function of the device. So don't panic that you got a used clipper - it's fine.Yes, there's a Biohazard sticker on the back. The company puts these on all clippers to indicate that once used, they will contain a biohazard, so watch out. Again, these are supposed to be there and do not indicate that the item is used. The last issue is that when you clip the tip off, it doesn't take the entire needle tip. Yes, there's a little stub left, but per the service rep this stub isn't enough for anyone to reuse the needle, so it's good to go and what they expect. Here's where you might need to watch what you do after removing the tip. I mentioned throwing the rest of the needle in the trash and was told that you still need to put it in a Sharps container or at least a hard plastic container (like one for laundry soap). I'm still trying to figure this one out because if that's the case, why bother clipping off anything?! I think the problem is that if your trash bag tears and a needle spills out, there might be serious concern about someone being stuck (without realizing the end is cut off). The sight of needles makes people nervous, so I understand putting them in something and taping it up for safety. It's just an extra hassle considering you've removed the dangerous end.

Got this to replace the one my vet gave me
I use this for my diabetic dog. I disagree with how many sharps will fit. My vet gave me the same one a little over a year ago. So I used roughly 800-850. No a problem though. It’s easy to use and you can just throw it out when it is filled up. Happy with the purchase.
