Julius, the Baby of the World: A Funny Classic Picture Book About Big Sister Jealousy and Family Love for Children (Ages 4-8)

This story is perfect for families introducing a new sibling to the family. The book series is so well written and illustrations are great. I love the Julius series.

Back when our kids were little and I worked at their grade school library, I would bring this book home to read to them, and they loved it. My husband would read Lily's words in a silly voice and I would be the narrator. So, it was a great family event to read this book. I've been giving it to the grandparents of a new baby in a family of older children as a gift. Some reviewers giving this book a low score mention that they feel the book describes the big sister acting totally inappropriately and saying mean things to the new baby. Sorry, but this pretty much happens in real life. But in the book and in real life, the parents keep encouraging the big sister to be nice and say nice things, and in the end-----she does and hopefully all the big brothers and sisters in the real world do, too!

This is the best book ever for a soon to be, or brand new, big sister or brother. My dad gave this to our daughter when her baby brother was born twenty plus years ago, and I have been buying it for other second-sibling-on-the-way families ever since. The story is laugh-out-loud entertaining for adults, and gives voice to what an older sibling may be feeling but perhaps cannot articulate. It's reassuring for all involved, normalising the mixed feelings a big brother or sister often has when a new baby arrives on the scene and doesn't go away. I love this book. My daughter still quotes it. Well worth every penny. Julius, the Baby of the World

Such a great book! Way back in the ‘90s, my mom gave this book to my oldest sister when she was pregnant with me, then the book went to me when our youngest sister came along. It became a tradition in our family to hand this book down every time a baby was born. I thought I’d continue the tradition when my friend was having her second child. The book was great, just how I remembered it! Quality was great, story was great, and the memories priceless!

Such a fun book to read to my toddler who was becoming a big brother!

Love this book for a older sibling. I bought this book for my daughter when she first became a big sister and she LOVED it. She's now almost 30 and shares a special bond with her sister.

I bought this as a gift for my stepson and he loves this book!

I got this for my daughter when her baby sister was born and I don’t think she was jealous of the baby until we read this book. The book is probably too mature for a 3 (almost 4) year old. I don’t read the parts where’d she says she hates her brother because I don’t want to put that idea in my daughter’s head. That being said, it’s probably a fun book for early elementary school kids.
