I serviced my 1998 Honda Civic DX Hatchback manual transmission, which took just under two quarts. Immediately, the shifting was smoother and the car sounded better running down the road. I strongly recommend this product. It's not cheap, per quart, but then, transmission fluid is not something that's changed very often, and in my case, it only took 1.9 quarts. Now, I realize that certain petroleum companies make very good products that work just fine. You could go that route. But with genuine Honda fluid, you KNOW. You KNOW it's the right stuff. I couldn't be happier: Thirty bucks and ten minutes of work resulting in noticeably improved performance, along with the confidence that comes with genuine Honda products. So, if you have a Honda manual transmission in need of service, get this fluid. You'll be glad.

Noticed an instant improvement in the smoothness of gear selecting on the manual transmission for this honda fit. No degradation in the transmission's performance since using this about a year and half ago. About 15k miles put on it so far since changing it's oil at around 100k mark. I was going to do the change myself but found out the local mechanic shop was willing to do it for me for about 10 bucks added to the engine oil change while they had it up.

Honda only recommends this for a reason! If you use anything else your synchros in your transmission will eventually catch and wear down FAST! I've used valvoline manual transmission oil, royal purple carbon syncromesh gear oil, and a handful of others including amsoil!!! Genuine Honda Manual Transmission fluid is a MUST for your beater with a 5-6 speed! I trust this stuff in any car with a manual transmission. Its worked flawlessly so far in a 98 ford ranger, multiple honda civics (obviously), BMW, in my mini cooper, in my buddys mk4 VW. It works BEST in every manufacturers manual transmissions! Even if its not recommended, I guarantee it'll perform way better than your manual ever has if you put in some DAMN good honda oil!
