Victoria Silicone Cast Iron Handle Cover. For 10 to 12 inch Skillets, Large, Red

Very good product, great build quality but be sure to use it for Victoria 10’ products as it is too big for the 6.5 inch skillet!

I have many cast iron skillets, both "cheap" and "fancy" and antiques, and this is the pan that has brought me the most joy to use. The surface is unlike any other I've ever seen. It's not shiny polished, but also not pebbly like most modern iron. I guess they call it "soft" because it's so hard to describe this smooth surface. I don't know how they achieved it. What is great is that it's so nice to slide your metal spatula on its smooth surface, but it's also got this soft finish that somehow makes seasoning very low maintenance. I usually give my skillets a couple of rounds of seasoning before I start using them, but this time I didn't have the time to do it, and honestly, it's perfect as is. No need to baby it. This baby is now a permanent resident on my stove. Check out the picture of the delicious sesame seared tuna steak I made with it.

This fits the Victoria 10.5 cast iron comal. Of course, it is roomy as previous reviewers have mentioned but you need to be careful that your hand grips the silicone cover on a hot iron handle. The silicone sleeve does its job but you need to be mindful that you are handling something very hot. I find it is useful and probably better than a large overstuffed pot holder.
