Guerrilla Marketing for Job Hunters 3.0: How to Stand Out from the Crowd and Tap Into the Hidden Job Market using Social Media and 999 other Tactics Today Review: If you want/need a job - get this book and follow the instructions!! - I was 8 months without a job and tried everything "old school" to find a job - no luck!! But you know what - as Gary Player said "The harder you work, the luckier you get!!" Yes, LUCK does play an important part in you getting a job - BUT how do you get "lucky" - stay focus here - I'm talking about JOB HUNTING!! To really stand out from the crowd - as we business types learned from school - you have to "differentiate", be different from the crowd/masses, it could be the "coffee invitation" or a special report you found that would help the company. Great, so how do you "be different" and get "luckier" with your job hunting amongst the tens of thousands out there? This guide shows you the step by step way to "market" YOU!! You'll learn and apply different approaches to not only the traditional ways of job hunting but also what the current trends are and how to use the latest online platforms to add ammunition to your arsenal to hit your target dream job!! As I mentioned above, I was out of work for 8 months and I have heard from other people who are still looking after 12 months, 18 months, 24 months....it's a very sad situation indeed!! Having been thru to the process - I cannot emphasize enough the need to be different - I got this book around mid-May 2011. Before getting this, I had already rewritten my resume of 4 pages a million times and had the 2-page, 3-page 4-page versions for all kinds of different roles. The "shot gun" approach!! Nothing worked!! So, instead of hitting my head against the same brick wall and hoping for a different result - I decided to apply the "rules of engagement" from GMJH 3.0! My 1-pager resume started to get noticed and even though I didn't get offers straight away - recruiters were calling back - YES, they were calling back!! - saying how great the resume looked and how concise the information was which really helped them to understand what I was looking for and my skill sets. I wasn't getting many call backs from the "coffee" invitations but I thought it was early days and just kept going and moving onto new contacts, A couple of weeks passed with similar feedback and then boom I was called in to talk to a number of financial institutions and some startups - these were my target groups! Another week went by and I got the job offers - not a huge amount - but hey, all I needed was 1 offer - right! Well, I actually had a number of offers to choose from! So did the book helped me find a job - that's a YES!!! But it's not a book - it's a guide to help you plan, structure and attack the daunting task of finding your next job! It's the blueprint to a campaign that you will need to take to heart and make real! It's the action plan that YOU have to work on day in and day out to you achieve the results you are looking for! Yes, it's hard work and cannot and must not delegate it to recruiters or online jobs sites - just because you think you have uploaded your resume there. It's not a silver bullet to your solution but I think the book is worth much much more than anything you can place a value on. It directs you to new ways of thinking, new approaches to present yourself in a new way, it asks you to take risks that you would never do or even know how to start doing. Now sitting on the other side of the hiring table, I can see from the scores of resumes arriving from job seekers all the things GMJH tells you not to do. I do get back to the applicants and when not asking them into the interview, I ask them to review their resume and get and use the GMJH 3.0 approach. So I do believe you can create your own luck as Gary Player said, I would add that you not only work hard but find a way to work with new tools and one of the best tools around to help you is GMJH 3.0! Jay and David thank you for sharing your knowledge! Review: Make your job search a positive experience, ROI already done! - I am still working with my current employer but want to switch to a new career adventure into sales & marketing for a startup or for a consulting company. It's been 8 years I've not searched a job, and having studied guerrilla marketing during my MBA program, GM4JH 3.0 was an obvious pick. I read the book a couple of months ago I am now actively putting into practice the many suggestions. As a non-fiction book, it is a very easy read. First reading took me 3 days. GM4JH 3.0 is like a novel from Clive Cussler, you just can't stop until you reach the end. Even if you are a sharp job hunter, you'll learn a lot of great tips. The greatest take-away of the book is the many HOW-TO-DO it yourself. Many non-fiction, self-improvement books tell you who, what, when, why, but very few tell you HOW. This book is definitely high on the HOW side. The approach is an holistic one, an integrative job search in the way to help you being innovative, using 21st century technology, and remind you every step to cover in the job search process. How is it helping me so far? The networking section and informal interview sections are really instrumental for pushing me to do it. Would I recommend the book? YES, and actually I already did to a friend of mine who recently received a job offer. I told him to buy it and read the section on `Negotiating the Deal'. He ended up increasing his salary offer by 10% on a 6 figure salary. He took the job. For a $21.95 investment, that's a great ROI. Overall the book is just GREAT and extremely positive. Not the way that the energy will fall a couple of hours after as you may have experienced with other books or conferences you attended. GM4JH 3.0. really helps me to stop procrastinating. It helps me to take massive action. It helps me enjoying my job search. Go for it. PS: if one or two tips from the book are too bizarre for you, either give it a shot since you have nothing to loose, or forget the tips and use other ones.

New tactics for first job search in 15 years...
I decided to start a job search this fall and was researching applicable books on amazon. I bought several titles on resumes, interviewing, LinkedIn, etc. My general concept was that the situation is vastly different than the last time I looked in the 90's. Back then the job market was hot and all I had to do was read the help wanted section and apply for jobs and I got several offers by doing that. The emergence of Social Networking, Web 2.0, and LinkedIn made me wonder how my methods had to be updated. The higher unemployment since 2009 also made me believe that the competition will be increased. Of all the books I bought on job search related topics, this one is having the most impact for me. The authors hit on all the various topics; from how to target companies, write a resume & cover letters that stand out from the crowd, use LinkedIn for maximum benefit, interviewing and negotiating the offer, etc. I have just finished the book and I don't know if there are truly "999 tactics" as in the sub-title, but there are certainly hundreds of recommendations. Do I plan to use 100% of those tactics? Honestly, no, but I have found many that I will use in my search. I particularly appreciate that the authors are current on the technical side. They give practical information about Twitter, LinkedIn and other tools available online. They inform how the employers have turned the tables and are now searching for YOU online and explain well how to make sure you can BE FOUND. One thing I did not care for is the "guerilla" theme, but I understand the point of thinking and behaving differently from the masses of job searchers. In summary, the best money I've spent on my job search so far. My LinkedIn network has doubled, my profile improved, and I am working on a Guerilla resume.

I was recommended this book by one of the most well-respected, no BS marketing and sales experts. It came as a sigh of relief. Most job-hunting books are focused on discovering what your good at through silly personality tests...whereas employers and hiring managers could not care less. This book is not full of lame assessments. It's full of crunchy tactics and strategies to help you market and sell yourself better. Just like in business, the one who gets in front of their customer (as a job-hunter, this means hiring managers) and gets the customer to know them, like them, and trust them wins the sale (and as a job hunter -- gets the job)! If you're tired of the strengths finders and the assessments, read this book for a step-by-step SYSTEM that will help you find a job. It's not a magic button, and you do have to push yourself outside your comfort zone -- but it works. A must for any job-hunter in 2018 and beyond.

For a while I have been interested to learn more about modern hiring methodologies that leading companies are using to find the most talented and inspired employees. My research has been based to see both perspective, from the employers and job seekers. On that research I decide to buy this book. The authors in this book, with lot of practical examples, explain to the job seekers that beside hard and soft skills, the art of marketing and presenting themselves as products that will help the companies to solve their problems (bring, save or optimize money, products, services) is the key to success. They explain the rough reality on the job market and explain that only those job seekers who are able to present themselves in a unique and innovative way, showing the employers that they are different then the crowd, could hope to find not just a job, but an inspiring, challenging and well paid job. The book is rich of tips how to use modern technologies to perform effective self marketing. Traditional method are not working anymore, job boards, resumes and cover letters are only part of the tools to find a job, but not enough. There are tips how to write resumes and cover letters, but also dozens of other tips how to find hidden jobs, prospect employers and how to marketing yourself. The book guides the job seekers to create a strategy and give them the tactical advises how to achieve their goals, finding an inspiring and well paid job. The book is written with care to be easy understandable to every one. regardless of their education or profession. The advices are applicable for every one and in every job market. The only thing that I found this book missing is an reference to all those methods and tools. Such a reference could help every job seeker easily to find information about them without to search through the whole book at any time. As conclusion a book that every serious job seeker should read it. For those already employed this book is also must to read giving them a guide how to progress in their careers and how to cope with the changes on the markets and use those changes in their advantage.
