I actually like this Straightener because it is really simple, gets the job done, and it is an affordable price. I have thin hair so it doesn't take much heat or repeatition to get the job done. However, my daughter that has extremely thick hair this Straightener works perfectly on her hair also on the higher heat setting and one piece doesn't have to be done over and over again like most cheap straighteners. It does make beautiful curls also.It is extremely simple, perfect for a starter Straightener, if there is such a thing. IT has a power button and then two temperature control buttons with a digital display, seriously fool proof! It does only have one floating plate, and does have a tiny gap in it like another review states but honestly it didn't make a difference when using it and I didn't even notice it until I read that review. It doesn't snag my or my daughters' hair when using and I find it to glide smoothly. Of course if you don't have a steady hand and don't glide it at the same speed down the length of the piece of hair you are straightening you can get creases, but that has been my experience with every Straightener I have used. Overall, very user friendly.The only downfall for me was the smell when I used it the first few times. I have seen others have mentioned it also. It smells like burning plastic and it did linger in my makeup room for a few hours after I turned it off the first time I used it. I had to go check an hour later and make sure I had turned it off because the smell was still pretty strong (but the door was closed) (Also I do think it has auto turn off just in case you are wondering) However, after I used it for a couple of weeks one day I realized "wow, it doesn't have that burning smell anymore." So not too sure how long it takes to subside, but it does go away.Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple, affordable Straightener. As for those who are worried about double floating plates that are perfectly even and clamp down on hair at the exact same time that has nothing to do with the outcome for $15, perhaps you are expecting too much out of a straightener.

As someone who struggles mightily with wavy hair that insists on ONLY being wavy no matter what product, tool or technique I use, I was floored when I tried this straightener at my friend's house one day. Without using any special leave-in spray or other hair products, I found myself with perfectly straight, non-frizzy hair that lasted all day in 90-degree heat!I went straight home and bought one. I have used it several times since and been impressed with the same consistent result. The digital screen is sleek and temps are easy to read and adjust. It's sturdy and feels like an expensive tool.

Sleek and lightweight, heats up very quickly. Power button is hidden well enough so that you don’t hit it while styling your hair. Floating plates so good for straightening and light curl or twist. Allows you to get very close to the root without burning yourself. Very good performance for the money, better than a $50 or more straightener. Would highly recommend.

UPDATE: I finally received the promised replacement flat iron and what a difference. I haven't had any of the issues that I had with the first one, and it is overall a more well-made version. My first one had no blue LED lights to indicate it was on, meaning I had to pick up the iron and squint into the little window to make sure it was working. The replacement one has the LED lights, better power switches and works so much better. I contacted Remington with the case ID number they gave in the comments on my first review, and received a response about 3 days later saying they would send me another flat iron. Almost 3 weeks later I had to contact them again and was told that my shipment somehow got stalled in the warehouse. Their promise of getting one out to me by express was kept, and it was no hardship a few days later to wrap up the first version and ship it back where it was hopefully destroyed by Remington in the hopes that no other customer received such a shoddy version.I want to like this, and based on straightening performance alone, I would like to give it 5 stars. The price is certainly right. It heats up very quickly and does a great job on my hair, but after using it for just over a week, I noticed an issue with the on/off feature. I can turn it on, but within a few seconds, it has shut itself off and no matter how often you push the power button, it will not come on. The next day, it might work absolutely fine, but then the cycle of not staying on will start over again on the next day. I'm not sure what the return policy is on an issue like this and don't want to have to pay to return it. Very frustrating!

I already used it, and it is excellent. It's great for travel, easy to use and an excellent purchase. I look forward to using this for years to come.

Best I’ve used in years! Heats up quickly and gets the job done. Works well with natural hair (4C). Perfect size for size for straightening/curling my short hair.

I have fine thin hair and this straightener works great it heats up fast and grips my fine thin hair without pulling or snagging it. I only gave it 4 stars because the heating panel doesn't light up and it's really hard to see the numbers on the screen to see what temperature it is on I had to shine a flashlight on it to be able to see the numbers.
