What a fun book!
I'm a homeschool mom who happens to love teaching science. This book has been a wonderful resource for my inquisitive son who is often able to complete the activities on his own since the directions are kid-friendly and clear. I also use the book quite often during my co-op classes. The activities are very hands-on and require lots of science inquiry that lends itself to deep discoveries which work well for discussions with groups of children. It's been a great addition to my homeschool!

Perfect for this NON-creepy crawly mom!
For this mom of three boys, this book is perfect! I am far from a "creepy crawly" mom. My boys seem to take after me and shy away from anything dirty, crawly, or even outdoorsy. We are loving the projects in this book. They give me a step by step way to get out and discover nature. We built the lady bug house that is in the book and can now watch our lady bugs come and grow. We've learned a lot from the book and the process. I'm really trying to talk myself into some of the worm projects, I know I will get there, but this book really is helping to give me confidence. It is simply written (easy to understand), the projects are very doable (not super expensive or tough to find materials), and the pictures and layout are really beautiful. I would also recommend this as a gift, or something to use for beating that summer boredom! Thanks for a fabulous book!

Great for the SUMMER
I had hoped for more year-round activities, but now that we are into warmer weather, it will be a truly great help in backyard nature studies during the coronavirus. I have a 4 year old granddaughter and she can't wait to start the activities.

Why is my book glued together???
While this might be a good book, I'll never know. The book came glued together so I couldn't even open pages. Disappointing, to say the least, especially since it took so long to arrive (and was part of a gift). Best part, to get a refund, I need to print the label, package it, and ship back. Way to kick you when your down.

Lots of good ideas to foster a love of nature and the outdoors. Got some worms at Walmart and a styrofoam cooler at the Dollar Store. Kids loved watching, holding, and feeding vegatable scraps to the worms. After a few weeks, we even were able to count and notice the "babies". Fun activities for the kids.

This book will not disappoint!
My kids can't go a day without thumbing through the book to learn more and more about the critters they are finding outside. When we found a toad, my 4 year old proudly proclaimed she knew exactly what to do because her book showed her! This book will not disappoint!

My 6-year old son is obsessed with this book! It will be the thing that keeps us going this Summer for sure! We have been fun exploring the many great projects included. It is keeping my kids interested in the outdoors this Spring and Summer and I can't complain about that!
