Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Kids: Beginning Cursive

Great even for younger kids
I use this workbook while homeschooling my kindergarten son. I love the layout, especially following a path within the guide rather than confusing arrows. The connecting letters section has a lot going on so we usually just do a couple of lines at a time.Even though my son is still learning to read, I find that he gets a huge benefit from the concentration it takes to write the letters. We like to look back through the book to see how much his regular practice has paid off. He loves to draw, and his drawing has gotten much more refined as well.I wish there was a similar book for writing numbers! I know it’s not exactly cursive, but the hollow line guides are such an improvement over arrows. They should be the norm.

My kindergartner is learning cursive at school. This book has really helped him. It is not overwhelming.

Most Accurate Way to Begin to Learn Cursive
I recently started my 3rd Grade granddaughter in this book. It has the best diagrams for showing the beginner how to make their cursive letters. As she uses this book [EXL Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Kids: Beginning Cursive] I had her get the necessary additional beginning practice using Channie's Easy Peasy Cursive Workbook. I looked at a lot of published materials. This combination was the best for learning cursive by far! I'm a retired teacher, and I've been tutoring my grandchildren for almost six years.

Good workbook to use
This is a good workbook to use to learn and practice cursive. One thing to note is that capital Q's are not standard, they're a more modern Q maybe? They look more like a printed Q rather than the one that looks kind of like a 2. So, we still had to show our son the alternative Q since his school uses the other Q.

Great for learning the steps in order
My son is nearing the end of 2nd grade, and I am not sure if schools still teach cursive (I have heard a lot don't), but I still want my son to learn it, so since I am currently homeschooling him for awhile, we decided to give this book a try. We've only done a few letters so far, but I love the format. We just made copies from our printer so we could go over different letters again or I can use them with my other kids in the future without having to purchase another book. I love the big letter at the top that gives the order you will trace over each section. For some of the letters where you go over the same part of the letter more than once, knowing the order is so important. It gives a big one with the order of steps at the top, then ones to trace, and then a few lines to try to make them on their own. Nothing too fancy, but I feel like the big letter at the top, and the way that is designed really makes it helpful. We also got the sequel book that connects the letters into words for once he gets more confident in the individual letters.

Okay, in fairness, we've only used this book for a day. But, after flipping through it, I'm really pleased with what I see and think it'll meet our needs perfectly. Some thing I like about it-The pages are clear and bite-sized. No overwhelming rows upon rows of practice. The pages for word practice are full pages, but the font is large. (See pictures.)Rather than dots to copy over, there are trails to follow (in between the font lines). I don't know why this would make a difference, but I like it.Lastly, I really like how when they move on to connecting the letters into words, the individual letters for each word are practiced once again, before following the pathway to connect them into words, and then, finally, practicing the words on your own.Gray product!

Beginning Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Kids by EXL Workbook Series
I already had a good cursive writing program and planned to return it when it arrived. However after reviewing this workbook, I decided to keep it and canceled the return. I believe the dot to dot numbered process will help my student I am homeschooling!😊

Start with this book
I really really like how this book starts with a 2 inch lower case and a 3 inch upper case letter with connect the dot numbers on them to first trace with their finger and then with a light colored marker. It totally gets them to keep their pencil going in the right direction without any effort/correction on my part.I've been using this with my twin granddaughters who will start the second grade in a month. We've only done this 3 to 5 minutes a day, 3 or 4 times a week. They are coming right along and attitudes have been great.

Fun and Simple
A very pleasant introduction to cursive for children. Pages are laid out in a spacious and non-overwhelming manner and the size of the writing expected is spot on. Would recommend.

Easy enough for a 5 year old to use alone!
I was looking for something easy to use that I could leave my 5 year old doing independently and gain confidence. This was perfect for that! He must like it because he often does several pages at once.
