Does the job - a bit smelly
I was expecting the finish on this to be a gloss shine, but was a full emulsion. Ultimately this did not matter. I applied this to the bathroom ceiling over a month ago and so far, no mould has come back. My only gripe was the smell. If you do a lot of painting (unlike me) you will know you can take steps to minimise this, I didn't. Suggestions of a bucket of water with lemon in the room to be painted beforehand and during to help eliminate the smell (I didn't try that). Or candles etc. I think really down to time of year. If it is warm weather and you can keep windows open and door closed then might help, but in my case the smell was everywhere in house for at least 3 days and not nice. I also made the observation that gloves would be a great idea - about 20 minutes after I started and I got it on my hands from painting the ceiling. You live and learn. The paint is oil based, even if you wash your hands, it will stick to things, for example washing up I discovered fingerprints on things I had washed. Doh! I still have half a can left, so scope to do more later. If I got the other colour I could have had a crack at some walls elsewhere, but you have to consider coverage, colour to rest of wall and really consider solving the problem rather than apply as a cosmetic fix. Prospective landlords take note, I would say use a product like on bathroom ceilings, but also provide perhaps look at some sort of extraction as well. This might be a cheaper and quicker fix, but longer term, preventing or reducing damp mould is a plus? Is this product worth it? Given the inconvenience of having to try to remove the mould on the ceiling, now I have applied the paint and hasn't come back immediately, looks promising. I think with cold weather and condensation being the factor, if you are in an area with inadequate ventilation (none) and a lot of use 5-6 years protection sounds about right. As it is I have been in our current house 12 years and suspect something like this has been used before, you just need to renew the surface. Having a kid that transitioned from baths to showers (and boy do they love showers) the mould issue escalated quickly. A good product, just make sure you protect your hands, and have good ventilation. *********** UPDATE ************* Now 24th Jan, and mould back in ceiling. A few notes on this. Suggestions of two coats. I applied one The finish is rough, so trying to clean this off is difficult, you think you are probably going to rub the finish off, which would defeat the purpose? Source of mould is from steam and starting on walls and moving up. The mould isn't coming through the plaster on ceiling underneath. This paint is like a placebo in a way. If you eliminate the source of the problem do you really need the paint? If you have a bad source of condensation, this piant on it's own isn't going to solve the problem. My issue is as above, more showers, cold weather and only a bathroom window to open. A portable extractor with pipe to funnel out the window would ideal, sadly can't find anything, certainly not in my budget, and my landlord is hopeless. The windows are awful, so can't see an extractor going in there, nor a ceiling fan and outlet, quote someone "it's a bit high" when discussing a guttering issue. I am kind of annoyed with the ceiling. Cleaning it is a pain, and something I wanted to avoid. If I can inflict another week of horrible smells on the family I could paint another coat (would it really make a difference?), but again I would need to be on top of cleaning the walls anyway to mitigate the problem, and stopping condensation in first place is the problem. HG Mould spray is highly recommended I am told. Spray, leave and that's it.

Two coats done the job brilliantly
This stuff really works. I did two coats, waited a week or so then painted over it in my chosen colour matte paint and no signs of damp have returned. Before I tried this damp seal paint, the wet patches would literally never disappear. But this fixed it instantly. Tip - This paint has an extremely strong smell. Remove nearby soft furnishings etc because it feels like the smell penetrated all fabrics around the room! And wear gloves. VERY pleased with this and I recommend it to everyone.

It stinks! But appears to be a high quality product.
Echoing what many have said, this paint REALLY smells and it's absolutely necessary to try to adequately ventilate the room you're going to be working in! The paint is also thick and has an almost sticky consistancy (similar to PVA glue). I didn't have fun applying this paint to my (bare plaster) bathroom celing! But (and it's a big but) after 2 coats the ceiling now looks immaculate! and I have a high level of confidence it's going to remain that way for a long time to come!

Good quality paint.
I purchased this paint for my bathroom ceiling which was showing signs of would. The paint is easy to use and apply. On cleaning the brush and mini roller, I found that this paint was starting to set, with a plasticity consistency, which is obviously the barrier to the mould from coming through this paint. It's been a few weeks since I did this job and my ceiling looks great, like new. This paint is not particularly cheap in price, however it seems to give great results and worth it. Only time will tell, with regards to the mould coming through. However, having seen that this paint seems to dry, with a plasticity type of structure, I am pretty confident that this paint really does seal, as it claims. Would recommend. !

First class paint that works well and looks good
Very impressed with this paint. I have used other ‘quality’ manufacturers but this is by far the best paint I have worked with. I used it on a damp wall with mould and as a patch on my bathroom ceiling. What I like about this paint is that the finish is good enough that you do not need to add a coat of emulsion or matt paint for it to look good. It also goes on very easily with a brush. My only warning to potential buyers is that unless you are putting this on a same colour finish, you will almost certainly need at least 2 coats. I used 3 coats to completely cover a darker blue paint underneath, which I treated with an anti mould spray first. This was probably over the top but, but for the cost of an extra coat and some time, I thought was worth it. Of course the proof is now how long will it look good and will the damp/mould re-appear. I will update this review if that occurs.
