2.5 Gallon Ball Lock Keg

I don't mind used kegs (my other 5 gallon corny keg is used), so I decided to give this one a shot. I was under the impression when I bought it that it was a USED keg, but that it had new ball lock connections. Well, if this keg is used, it must have been only so slightly used because it is in very good condition - nice, shiny exterior, and no noticeable build-up on the inside.This keg did not come with extra gaskets, but the installed gaskets were likely brand new.To prepare it, I soaked it in BPW for a day (under slight pressure to run some through the "out" line), then drained it and did a similar treatment with StarSan.I then racked my beer off of the 3 gallon secondary, being careful not to let the water level get above the "in" line. It's been carbonating for the last week or so with no loss of pressure.When I was initially locking the lid for cleaning, some water was escaping out around the mouth of the keg, so I had to unlock and readjust the lid a couple of times to get it to be water tight. After that there was no leaking.At some point in the process, I sliced my finger on the inner rim - so be careful - it's very sharp!

I was familiar with the reputation of the manufacturer for this keg, but I was still excited to see the quality involved.I'm not sure if this review is for the first or the second of these that I've purchased this month, but that alone should tell you something - these are GOOD kegs. The maker might not be Cornelius, but the quality is comparable!

Awesome. They both fit inside my 70qt igloo cooler with a krone tap and faucet on top. With a paintball CO2 bottle in there, I've got a 5 portable gallons of beer.
