I’m still currently in the “break in” period with this motor and have not used it on the water yet. I will update this in the future. However after having the motor for a full 24 hours now I will say so far so good. The motor arrived 3-4 days earlier than estimated. It was in good new condition right out of the box. Once I added fuel, gear oil, and some grease she fired right up on the fourth pull. (I was excited and forgot to pull the choke) since then it’s started on the first or second pull every time. In my video you will see right at the end that the motor did cut off on its own. I learned that it has a temp gage and when it reaches a certain temp it kills the engine. What happened was my trash can of water had been cycling for about a hour and half and had warmed the water up. One I dumped water and replaced with new she ran fine again. So if you’re not using ears I recommended changing out your can water every hour if that’s how you plan to break it in. Will update how it runs on the water in a few days.

Enjoying this motor very much for the little crabbing boat we just got. It’s perfect for it.

Same power as a 9.9HP Mercury 2 stroke motor. 2 stroke are much more reliable than 4 stroke motors in my opinion. It has all the features as a more expensive unit. Manufactured by Tohatsu. break in period of 10 hours is excessive in my opinion.

Starting break in. Must fill lower unit full of lube. Doing about 20:1 fuel oil and so far so good. Shift fine, idles ok after a little adjustment, pees water well. Restarts only take 1/2 pull. Stop switch is the kill switch; no separate stop button. All bolts appear to be properly torqued. This seems like a steal!
