A simple yet brilliant concept
I thought this was an inspiring concept, which of course is Mr Sinek’s ‘Why’ - In many ways it seems logical, yet most of us, and especially businesses chasing the pound note focus on the ‘how and what’. The reason for 4 * is that it gets a little repetitive with the majority of case studies being focused on a small number of highly successful companies such as Apple, Wal-Mart, and Costco. A cynic would argue that these companies would be easy to reverse engineer any inspirational leadership ‘formula’ to fit as we know them so well. What would have been nice to see would have been some examples of it in practice for smaller businesses, who aren’t reaching for the the dizzy heights of ‘Fortune 500’ - because as romantic as the notion of Jobs and Woz, or Sam Walton being idealistic socially centric world changers, they and their companies have made £billions and continue to do so, something 99.9% of businesses will never achieve (or arguably even aspire to).

Decent Book - Slightly Repetitive
This book is well written and very enjoyable to read. The theory Simon has about starting with why is excellent. He explains it very well throughout the book and the book it is well written and accessible. My only issue is that he talks about Apple a lot. And whilst they are a great example, they get a mention in nearly every chapter, it starts to feel a bit repetitive at points.Don't let that put you off though and it hasn't stopped me buying another of his books which I am looking forward to reading!

Such an important book!
Really enjoyed reading this book and understanding more about why i do the things i do and why sometimes its so difficult to articulate, going to take some time to deep dive my Why just to put words on what i think and feel on a day to day basis. Well worth a read and/ or listen.

Not bad, but could have been much more
I think this book does communicate some great examples of why understand the 'why' of your work will give your work greater purpose and ultimately succeed. It is worth reading and thinking about why you're doing the work you're doing and using this purpose to sell yourself.I was a little disappointed that the book is a little thin on 'how' these great leaders achieved what they did. I came to the book thinking I might learn how to get the best of a team of people around me through better leadership. In the end, most of the examples in the book boil down to "they embody the company's WHY", which, whilst worth doing ourselves, doesn't feel as helpful as it could have been. It's not the longest read and it could have been shorter, ultimately the arguments can be reduced to;- Know WHY you're doing what you're doing, not just HOW and WHAT it is you do- As a leader, 'embody' that WHY (whatever that means, just live by example I guess)- Put the WHY at the centre of everything, including marketing so that customers get it to (basically that three-ring diagram you'll see in the book's marketing

Maybe a tad idealistic
Some of Sinek's idea is so hard to implement in reality but if you want a feel good idealistic vision of a world that he is building, this is a good starting point.

The final Question: Why
Very interesting book, this changed my perception of a lot of things a bit further to the essence of true knowledge. This is useful for everyone interested in business, self improvement or Philosophy
