The moment I took it out, I was blown away by the latch’s simple, genius design. It takes five seconds to “install,” and it keeps the door open just enough for cats to slip through and dogs to stay out. The sturdy plastic is slightly flexible, so it stretches just a little, but it also holds its shape so that the door won’t ever close. Latching and unlatching is a breeze, too, for both kids and adults. I can easily do it with one hand while I’m carrying laundry. I was a little worried that our dog would be able to fit through, since she’s practically the same size as our cats. Nope! All seventeen pounds of her stays decidedly outside—no more pee on the carpet!!I seriously haven’t been this impressed with a purchase in a long, long time. It’s simple, cheap, easy to use, and effective. Whoever came up with this latch is a literal genius.

I am really happy with this purchase! The cats can pass freely but not the dog.The FlexLatch is stiff enough to prop the door open, long enough to accommodate our chubbier cat, and resilient enough to stay in place despite what the dog may try to do. It hangs on the door handle when not deployed, ready at a moment's notice to flex into action. As one photo shows, I added some small plastic dots to one side to ensure that the hanging end of the latch can't wear down the paint below the door handle.It was barely an inconvenience to put the FlexLatch over the door handle. Once on the door handle, it is super easy to put it into use and, likewise, to return it to its idle state.The muted grey color blends in nicely. I believe the product will last forever, much to the dog's dismay.This product works as long as you have somewhere in which to insert the small post. One of my photos shows the post resting in the cavity that normally receives the door latch. For doors that lack this kind of thing, one could easily drill a shallow hole into the door frame for the small post to engage.One year update: Still love this product. So easy to use, effective, inconspicuous.

After years of being woken up by a hungry cat that couldn’t be free-fed because our dog would eat it, I finally have a solution! I really didn’t want to install a cat door or honestly even drill any holes. I bought a different brand that had an adhesive version, but my dog was able to break through that immediately.This is strong with zero installation and has been life-changing!

Great latch for a fat cat! Very easy to install, no adhesive needed so you dont have to ruin your door and it does allow air to flow without letting your furry friends get out. The design is nice because there is no need for any tools.If you have a dog that has no boundaries they could pop this off the door. It just hooks inside the door latch. If you are using this to keep your dog out or in and you know they could bully their way through, this might not be the product for you. It would work for training.It works for my cats and dogs

I recommend this to everyone with dogs & cats! It’s excellent to keep obsessive dogs out of litter or cat food. My dog (pitbull/boxer mix) was a litter fiend & this was the only solution that wasn’t incredibly inconvenient for the humans but still actually worked. I recommend just getting the XL unless your cat is literally tiny; my roommates 10lb (somewhat round) cat couldn’t fit through anything smaller than that.I’ve ordered 2 of these now and will continue to order more if the future need ever presents itself. I recommend these to all of my friends. Super simple yet effective product, no commitment of damaging doors, very renter friendly. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.
