They work well at detecting alcohol .

My daughter is 21 and goes to bar for dancing with her girlfriends. She commutes to college and does not drink alcohol if driving from college hang out bars to home. God willing: A girl slipped her a coke with vodka "by accident"..... She was parched and realized that it tasted real bad. Waitress confirmed issue. My daughter went back to her car, used test: positive!!! Everyone felt bad, club included, and fed her pizza plus lots of water. She is very skinny and just 1/2 a mixed drink could have landed her in jail or worse, at the morgue. It is not as precise as the police ones but a very good indicator.
