I don't have much to add beyond what others haves said. This is a classic not only of Chinese literature, but of world literature as well. Okay, I do have one thing to add: Anyone, and I mean anyone, from the President of the U.S., and the Secretaries of State and Defense, right on down to the little fish in the pond like you and I, who wants to understand the inner dynamic of Chinese politics, need look no further than this one text. Everything you would want to know is all right here. Things have not changed much over the years.And no more lugging around four volumes to get at it. This Kindle edition puts it (literally) right at your fingertips.

one of my favorite novels. one of the best I know of regarding waging war and statecraft. I have read this novel at least 7 times and wanted it on Kindle. although this particular translation is not as good as the one by Samuel, don't remember his last name, it captures all of the great battles of this period of the three kingdoms and most importantly how they are won and lost by planning and strategy.The families and kingdoms discussed in the Game of Thrones have nothing on "Romance of the Three Kingdoms".

I expected something more heavy going. Most European sagas and histories of the same age require a certain amount of commitment to slog through, but this is really fun. First thought is that Hollywood should latch on to this, but then realize that the Hong Kong studios latched on to it long ago. It is like Game of Thrones with out the sex and graphic violence. Although summary beheadings are common the author does not dwel on the gore.This is a huge book but a real rage turner. However, there are key events after which you can take break if needed

Great story or should that be stories? A myriad of characters (I hope you've got a good memory) populate this novel about the Three Kingdoms period (several hundred years) of Chinese history. The depth of detail, the intensely personal descriptions of people and their lives is remarkable. If you're interested in China, then you should read this.Maps in an e-book always seem to get lost somewhere and when you need them, they are never quite to hand. But, it is a minor inconvenience.

I don't really know too much about the background of this novel, but it is a fascinating, complex and tragic story. The translation is pretty funny, getting more and more ungrammatical as the book goes on, but that really adds to the charm. Get this, read this and you will never regret it.

One of the four classic books of Chinese literature. By all means essential for the understanding of Chinese history and culture. It implies a long time reading, so it is a must have in any personal library. Recommended to anyone interested in Chinese history as well as to those curious readers willing to extend their educational background.

There are *many* grammatical and typographical errors in this version. That said, masterpiece.

Excellent book! It's one of the first book I finish reading. I am not much of a reader but this one totally got me hooked up and will definitely buy real and more complete book of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
