Totally worth it!
I have no idea why some think this scanner is a piece of junk. It "basically" does everything my $400 CipherLab scanner does at a fraction of the cost. One thing (that I really like) is that this scanner can transfer data via RF, but my CipherLab cannot. OK, it doesn't have the programming ability that the CipherLab has, but if all you want to do is count inventory or create inventory - this is the one for you. In fact, I like it so much - I am going to purchase one or two more!

Bit of a learning curve because it does multiple things.
The media could not be loaded. Inventory Scanner,JRHC Wireless Barcode Scanner 2.4G Portable Handheld 1D Laser Barcode Reader for Scanning Collection and Inventory Management with 2.2 inch LCD Screen for Library,Warehouse, StoreThis feels and looks durable. Seems to have alot more functionality than a scan gun at the cash register. The 2.4ghz connection seems fairly good. There is a usb receiver that you plug into your computer. Then open up a spreadhseet. Next goto the device menu and locate "rf pair"to get the device talking to your computer then ouila. Set your cursor in a cell and select "scan gun" function from menu. Press scan and the upc number is transmitted into the cell. It automatically moves cursor to the next cell in the column. I haven't used one of these before and I sort of expected that there would be more information from the scanning. This is not the case. It scans a UPC code and collects/ transmits the number related to that code with no other information--You can however with the device input more information but it is not done automatically. This was a bit of a letdown but it's not the fault of the device it's that I don't understand how these things work. Details other than the UPC number will require manual input from the user. I guess this is just how these things work once you've got it set up then inventory should be a breeze. The other function that seems pretty useful is the inventory scan. You set up a library and if you're counting items you just scan them in and it does the counting for you then I think what would happen is you would then transmit that whole library to your spreadsheet. It does look to be a good quality device with a lot of functionality but there's a lot you need to learn to really get the most out of it. But without doing a lot of digging I was easily able to get it connected and get numbers to transmit into a spreadsheet.

Great product
Well made, looks great, works as should. No complaints and definitely glad I replaced my old barcode scanner with this device. I will be buying a few more of these devices.

Don't get too close
It doesn't work up close. You have to hold it somewhat at a distance. That makes it a little bit more difficult to use than my other scanners. The good thing is it has a screen, which is cool. None of my other scanners have that feature. The scanner comes with a cable and a dongle, for wireless or wired scanning. Overall, it works for me and I will continue using it.

I got it to work!
Okay I am a 66 year old granny born three days after Bill Gates, but that doesn't mean I understand computer technology like he does! So for me to figure this gadget and out got it to scan and then got it to download onto an excel spreadsheet makes me almost feel like a genius! I have several hundred sewing books one many different subjects such as sewing, quilting, embroidery, needlepoint, etc. I have been sorting through them all and finding multiples that I didn't know I had, so I am wanting to use this to get an accurate list of what I books I have in my collection. It was easy to use and didn't take too long for me to figure it out. I am looking forward to getting my book collection organized since up until now all my books were in a jumble on the shelves.Thank you for this. I appreciate getting to try it out.
