Never thought I needed this but I did!
I bought this metal tube wringer because I was doing gouache and water color painting and the paints are VERY expensive, especially the good to excellent ones. You really want to squeeze EVERY drop out. A tube wringer was recommended. I had never heard of or seen one before. But what I first used it for was a tube of very expensive pain cream. This squeezed every drop out and as it crimps the tube, you can cut it off at the bottom and thus make the tube smaller for storage. This works on both metal and plastic tubes. I saw a tube ringer with plastic parts for sale but I'm glad I bought this one because it is very well made, strong, will last forever, and I will obviously have to pass it on in my will with instructions. It doesn't look fancy dancy but it's not ugly either. It is utilitarian - designed to be useful and practical which it is. I'm glad I bought it.

Bought second one
I used this in my studio for paint tubes. Can't imagine life without it. It works great, gets every last bit of paint (which is sometimes expensive!) out of the tubes. It pushes the paint up towards the top and then crimps the bottom. It's really sturdy; I've used it for a long time.I bought the second one for the workshop, and to be honest, as security. Where would I ever get something I depend on so much if something happened to the first one? I haven't had occasion to use it yet, but am definitely not sorry I bought it.

From hence forth, no tube shall go uncrimped.
Upon receiving this tube crimper, I immediately set about crimping every tube in my path. This crimper is not really meant to be used on plastic tubes, but you can bet your bottom dollar I did just that anyway. It works best on metal tubes, especially my acrylic paint tubes, but I strangled the plastic tubes more or less into submission. It is unusually fun to operate and I found myself lacking for fresh tubes in no time. I dropped the crimper while trying to crimp a particularly stubborn tube. It did a number on my foot, but the crimper itself was completely unharmed. I imagine I will have this crimper for the rest of my life and will share many important life events with it, such as crimping my future children's umbilical cords with ease and gusto.

works as advertised, no gimmicks
I got the 401 size & it works just as well with small tubes as it does larger. Seems like a rather flexible item. I’ve even used it for harder to squeeze silicon tubes. Great investment. Robust build quality. This thing appears it will last a long time.

Tube Wringer, Where Have You Been All My Life?!?!? Love it!
Sturdy as Superman, Easy as key lime pie, and I will NEVER part with this Gill Mechanical Company Tube-Wringer! When I think of how much watercolor, acrylic or oil paints I have thrown away, I can only say how grateful I am to have bought this! Not only is it fun to use, it saves a huge amount from each tube.If you have old tubes of watercolor that have dried up, you must first get water in there and soften it up, if not, you will just be crunching dried up paint. Not the idea here, so we need moist paint. My great accomplishment is that in the 100 (shhh, don't tell) Daniel Smith Watercolors I have acquired over the years, they are now all sitting pretty and have that sweet zigzag crimp with the paint sitting proudly at the top of the tube. I have tried forever to use other items to squeeze paint out of the flattened used up tube end, with nothing even close to the success I have with the tube-wringer. Bottles, credit cards, jewelry hammers, edges of my desk,.... yes, I've tried everything, even stepping on them, however, this wringer gets all except for the residue left behind. This is surely one of the best tools in my art studio. At first, I hesitated over the price, which could buy two new tubes of paint, and thought about it for a few days after which, I finally took the plunge! Woohoo! OMG, don't blink twice, get it, I promise you two things: firstly, you will no longer waste paint, and secondly, this little tool is by far, so much fun!One thing to note: do NOT squeeze them tight trying to get the old metal tube smoothed out with the pressure of the newly gathered paint. If you do,... once you take off the paint tube cap, you will be left with regurgitation of paint expelled out of the tube due to the pressure you created. So, gathering the paint up towards the top is the goal, but leave a little finger width of room for the paint to not be jammed tight. Don't ask how I know this, I'll never tell.Keep on painting!

Helps with my expensive lotions
I know this is usually used for paints, but that's not how I use it. I have very sensitive skin, and a lot of the lotions that I can use come in tubes, and are pretty pricy. This wringer is wonderful, and really helps me get out as much as possible without having to cut open the tube, and exposing the rest of the contents to air.I also use it for toothpaste, but that is secondary to saving my lotion.
