is the front lower than sides, can a cat step in or has to jump in?

All four sides are the same height. I have two adult cats. They can step in. I like the pan. Much better than plastic.

No I don't know if you used this box. Was quite heavy when I emptied it. Don't know if you can get shield. But my male cat peed over it onto wall.
