Breathe the Sky

I can never get enough of Michelle Hazen's writing, and Breathe the Sky is my favourite novel of hers to date. All of her characters and storylines are both realistic and gripping. I didn't want to put this book down and warmly recommend it to romance lovers and everyone interested in human nature.

I read this in one sitting, up most of the night. I simply couldn’t put it down. Michele Hazen isn’t afraid of tackling difficult subjects with passion and finesse, it was beautiful, sad, loving, unsettling. The characters Jack and Mari overcome tragic pasts and emotional and psychological damage to grow together to find true and healthy love. Really good read. Informative about biology and fauna of the desert too. Very satisfying.

Graphic, gritty and raw at times. Achingly sweet and relatable at other times. Michelle Hazen strikes a perfect balance. Had me on the edge of my seat hoping the characters would see what was right in front of them and recognize their own potential. Loved every single page.

It was wonderful to read a romance where rather than one person swooping in to save the other, they both helped and encouraged each other to save themselves. Thank. You. Also, the characters in this book are quirky and real and I want to take them all home and adopt them.

Michelle Hazen writes real stories about real people. I loved the authenticity of the story and characters. I read the book in three sittings and enjoyed every page. A beautiful well-written story with messages about abuse and the environment nicely woven in. Highly recommended.
