I used to have Tiffen filters and they would leave a blue green hue to my shots but these NISI filters are so much more accurate with the color straight out of my camera, I also love the start and stop feature of the ring, no more guessing where the variable ND starts and stops, I also love the little handle that comes with it, I can just feel for it instead of having to look over the camera to find the filter. Every variable ND filter company should have this built in.

I've gotten to use it for a few weddings, and I'm so happy with this product! I don't notice color change with the filter on and it's just so easy on my Ronin to adjust the filter to dial in the exposure without compromising the shot with aperture and ISO. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but I was just so happy with how easy it was to use today. Thanks NiSi, awesome filter!

Variable ND shooting video on a DSLR, or hybrid like the Sony FX3 is a must, my experience with some Tiffin and other higher end filters has not been great. I’ve experienced uneven gradients of ND, or an X of darker imagery in my footage, I’ve had no issues with this filter, the quality is solid, and the little adjustment handle is perfect for adjusting on the fly without getting your finger in the shot ;)

I purchased two cheaper variable ND filters trying to save money. That was a mistake. The NiSi filter is clearly better. It doesn't change the color and I don't see any cross hatch or vignetting. Tested on a Sony FX30 with a Sony f2.8 16-55 G lens.I wish the NiSi filter attached to a magnetic ring so I could take it on/off faster. I tried a cheaper VND filter that was magnetic but it shifted the color and introduced exposure differences across the scene that got worse at higher ND levels.

There is nothing true about the color. I have a big yellow circle in the middle of my frame with this ND Filter. I contacted the manufacturer - no response yet (2 weeks). So I have been sold a product and they ignore their customers. Where I come from these type of people are called thieves.

I watched and read so many reviews on this filter, and honestly about 90% of them are misleading. I think it’s great that Nisi gets their product out to creators, but every single video seems to be biased.Don’t get me wrong, I ended up deciding to keep it, but it is definitely not as true to color as people make it out to be. Anything past 3 stops WILL give you a lot of extra magenta.So why did I keep it? This color shift can be fixed by adjusting the tint towards green by about -4.0 and sometimes as much as -14.0. (I edit on Davinci).However, my take away was that even though it has this magenta shift, the colors stay more accurate than other comparable VNDs. I also bought a Peter McKinnon VND to compare and although it was pretty good right out of camera, it wasn’t as easily recoverable (introduces a blueish shift).Again, this could probably be removed in post, but I found that the Nisi was a lot more predictable knowing that it’s just magenta. A lot of times I shoot run n gun outside and I just set my white balance to 5500 and forget it. Now I started compensating in camera by about 0.5-1.0 points towards green to save myself some time in post when I know I’ll generally be cranking the ND past 3.It does still darken the sky in the corners past 3 stops as well, but again, that’s just what you get with polarizers.All in all, the reality is that it is still a VND. You have to sacrifice some quality if you want the speed and flexibility in changing light conditions. I just wish there were more people who gave honest reviews so that this wasn’t such a surprise to me.
