It Must Have Been Moonglow: Reflections on the First Years of Widowhood

I purchased this little book for a friend. I own a copy myself. Saw this author on the Today Show years ago. Purchased it then and loved her story. It is wonderful whether you have lost a spouse or not. It is about dealing with losing someone. She just started writing a daily journal and ended up with a book. Very nice lady. Years after she wrote it, I email her to see how she was doing, did not expect to here back. She emailed me and told of her holiday plans with family and how glad she was that I enjoyed her book so much. So worth buying. I do not think she is still living. Lovely Lady, Lovely Book.

A dear friend who was a widow brought me her hard copy book to borrow since it was no longer available. It was a bittersweet read for me, as I had just lost my husband to complications of Parkinson's Disease. I could relate to so much she had experienced and especially the trouble she had picturing the healthy, robust man she had loved. Because my husband was ill the last 2 years of our 52 year marriage, I had the same problem, and my goal was to again picture him healthy. After 1 year, 7 months, 11 days (but who's counting?) of being a widow, I'm almost there. I loved the book! Thank you, Phyllis Greene!!P.S. I researched and found the book was available in paperback. Since then I have given 4 copies to friends who have become widows also.

...is what Mrs. Greene provided for my mother after we lost my Dad. They had a long and happy marriage and while we had plenty of warning that we would lose Dad, she was understandably inconsolable when he died... ...until she read an article by Bob Greene about his mother's book. I can honestly say, she started to turn the corner while reading this book and has read it many, many times. I am online tonight buying a copy of it for my mother to give to one of her friends who recently lost her husband. I hope Mrs. Greene knows what a profound and generous contribution she has made to many grieving spouses. I personally would like to thank her for helping my mother resume her life and begin to find happiness again.Buy the book, you won't regret it.

This book was even to me many years ago when my first husband passed away from cancer. At first I couldn't read it.I waited about a year and picked it up again. I now give it to all my friends that have lost they spouse.

I am a parish nurse. Several years ago a new widow in one of my congregations recommended this book. saying that of all the books on grief she had received upon the death of her husband, this gave her the most help, gave voice to many of her feelings and brought the most comfort. She strongly suggested that we give a copy to any woman newly widowed.Thankfully, I have not walked in her shoes. I did read the book and could easily understand her reasons for recommending it for other newly widowed women. Her word needs to speak much more loudly than mine.

Was listed by seller as new but was written in by a previous owner. They offered to refund but had already given to my mom. Great book though.

This little book was written by an online friend the first year of widowhood. I bought it and it helped me through being divorced. I have since sent it to several other friends who became widows and they have all told me what a thoughtful gift I had sent and how glad to were at the help and insights it gave them. I recommend this book to your whether you're a widow or divorcee. Thank you Phyllis.
