Totally fun. They help create some wicked cool sounds. I have used them on my gongs, my tams and other hand drums. Soo fun!!!

After they broke on the first use, I went to the hardware store and bought brass rods to replace the "coffee straws" they used as pathetic handles for these mallets. I glued the brass rods into the super balls and they seem to work fine now. My suggestion, go buy some superballs and brass rods and just make these yourself.

I have a large gong that I use for sound baths and wanted to add friction mallet sounds, resisting the idea of paying so much for what amount to super balls on sticks, but having tried several different superbly mallets I have for different drums, and different silicone kitchen tools, with inconsistent results, I decided to splurge on these. I'm delighted and excited with the result! See video for demonstrations :)

These are quite delicate. The stick poked out through the top of one of the beaters so now if you hit anything there is the concern it might come off.
