Very study boots, a bit tight when ankles are swollen
Love these boots. They are really robust, and so far, their water resistance has been great. I use them on long-distance trips on my motorcycle, and they hold up really well. They are not lined, but I had no issue in moderately cold temperatures. They are wide enough at the top to accommodate big calves, but a bit tight at ankle level when your ankles are swollen. The soles are thick, and they don't slip on road oil. the construction feels sturdy. They also look good with a pair of jeans. Overall, excellent value for the money, I hope they'll last for years.

Best quality and comfort for work boots
I purchased these for my husband. He's worn these same work boots for 5 years, always repurchase, always love them. Stylish, look good, easy to use and pull on, and comfortable. They're not waterproof but I would say water resistant. The fit is on point, and the quality is exceptional. They last a long time, and function well as work boots.

Great 1st boot
These are my first what I would consider real boots. I choose them because of the rating and the cost and the construction.I work a hobby farm and put everything I own to the test. These fit true to size. I typically don't wear socks, but have room to wear a good work sock in them.Either my right foot is slightly bigger or the right boot is cut slightly smaller as its snug getting past the ankle portion of the boot.I did put boot grease on them to help water proof them. It did darken the leather and hide the stitches design on the upper part of the boot.My feet are picky and will let me know if they are uncomfortable. My feet have not complained yet and I have worn them well just over a week. The sole is a bit hard and not aggressive enough to my liking as the ground can be a bit slick at times, but it is tolerable for sure. The first two picks are of one boot greased and the other not. The other after a weeks wear.Updated: 10/2/17Well after just over a year the sole is separating from the toe box on the left boot.Typically I don't think this to be normal and I have an email into the company to see. However, I am extremely hard on all my stuff, including these boots, so I can not complain. They cost 100 dollars, so if they all last one year, as hard as I use them, I am good with that. They get wet, muddy, sweaty, and beat up all the way around.I did treat them when I purchased them and they have kept my feet dry with two treatments a couple months apart.I just ordered my replacement pair, this time with s square toe. ;)These have been the most comfort of all my footware I own and I am on my feet most the day.

First pair of cowboy boots
I've never owned a pair of cowboy boots before. My Dad had a really old pair that were very stiff, more like dress shoes almost and trying those on soured me to the idea of ever wearing any figuring they would all be very uncomfortable. However years later I got the itch to get myself a pair. I liked the idea they are so easy to take on and off, no tying, just jam it on and go. I was at a local chain store that sells boots and browsed the brands just to get an idea of which ones seemed the best quality. Ariat appear to be at the top of the quality list. That store didn't have exactly what I want so I searched online. I don't live in a dusty, dry dirt, desert type environment like I imagine most cowboy boots are designed for. Many seemed to have almost smooth bottoms with just a few grooves. I wanted something that had like a real boot bottom on them for the New Hampshire mud. I found very few boots that fit this profile but these Ariat Groundbreakers were exactly what I was looking for. I like that they had some kind of design stitched into them but nothing really gaudy. The bottom is thick leather like a baseball mit, the top softer like a leather jacket. The top part is nice and flexible so they don't feel restrictive like a tall pair of lace up boots does. It almost just feels like wearing a regular shoe. The insoles are very comfortable. If I wear them for a very long time they may rub a spot on my foot but I suppose some break in period is expected. They rubbed the top of my foot at first but after about a day that stopped. The bottom tread is very good and I have no traction issues. These are great in mud and muck. They are not waterproof but if you walk through deep water maybe up to just a few inches below the top of the boot your feet will stay dry. I wouldn't recommend standing in that water for a prolonged period of time as it might then seep in. The top part of the boot will start to absorb the water. But they aren't advertised as being waterproof so honestly it's better than I expected. After you wear these for a few weeks they start to break in nicely. I now wear them around all the time, in the woods, or out and about. They are great for doing work around the yard. The price for these boots was also very good, I paid barely over $100. Overall a great boot I would purchase again if I had to. They fit as expected, not too large or too small. They top of the boots are kind of large in diameter so you may need to tuck most jeans into them. Maybe if you had boot cut ones you could pull them over but I haven't tried that.
