Bunga PadsLace Bite Pad

My son had terrible lace bite from his hockey skates. This works great. He’s been wearing one for over a year on one ankle. Then he got lace bite on the other ankle so I bought a couple more. I put them in a mesh wash bag and throw them in the washer and dryer. I’ve been washing one of them for a year like that regularly and it’s still fine. I bought a cheaper knock off and my son didn’t like it at all.

After buying new skates, trying a million different hacks and tricks with lacing and pads, this was the product that finally allowed me to overcome lace bite.Wish it could be found for a bit less, but being able to play hockey again made it worth it.

These pads cured my lace bite. I don't typically leave reviews, but these bunga pads had such a positive impact on my injury that I felt compelled to do so.I purchased expensive Bauer skates last year in hopes that they would provide me with top notch performance and comfort. I play hockey 2-3 times per week, and after about 7 months, I started having chronic lace bite on my right longus tendon (the tendon that attaches the muscle running down your lower leg to your big toe)It was so bad that every time I bent my knee, which is standard form in hockey, I would have to straighten my leg or transfer all of my weight to my left skate. It was HORRIBLE.I did some research and found a few solutions.. a) stop skating for a while (not an option due to pure stubbornness) b) see a doctor (I'd rather not) c) try bunga padsI read some mixed reviews, but decided that C was my best option. I started wearing them and continued to skate at my normal interval.They dramatically reduced the pain during my first use, and my lace bite was completely gone after about 3 weeks.These are absolutely invaluable.I still continue to wear the bunga pad for preventative maintenance and it does not cause any sort of discomfort. I can't even tell that I am wearing it.If you are experiencing chronic lace bite, do not hesitate on this purchase. I cannot recommend these enough.

This is a difficult product to review in my experience as it has a specific purpose and was bought specifically for lace bite. The trouble is the shipping was horrible. It took a month to have it shipped from California, usually you get things within 3-4 days, a week is the longest I usually have to wait. In the month I had been waiting for the product I completed 4 physiotherapy sessions, cut down to playing once a week and bought an A&R lace bite gel pad. So needless to say my lace bite peaked and was already well into a recovery regime before ever used this product. I do use it every game now as a preventative measure. It does appear to have helped with the pain of lace bite. It feels more comfortable than the A&R gel pad by itself, but the gel pad and this pad feel best together. However my physiotherapist, after 4 sessions told me there's nothing wrong with my ankle/tenden that it's physically being aggravated by the skate. Hence, my problem appears a premature breakdown of my skate tongue and a lack of a a high end internal lace bite gaurd from the manufacturer. (Bauer supreme 180's). I am going hoping to fix this at a pro shop. If I can't modify the tongue this gaurd is the next best thing as when using it the pain of lace bite is reduced by about 75%.
