How to Play Alto Sax in 14 Days: Daily Saxophone Lessons for Beginners (Play Music in 14 Days)

One of the best sax tutorials.
Finally, a book aimed only at saxophone players and not a generic "band" tutorial with the same content either it is for sax or clarinet or trumpet or flute. Highly recommended.

It served it's purpose.
Good addition to my granddaughter's learning program. It was a big help to her. Thank you.

Best book you can get, my opinion, to start learning sax.
This book tells you how to play rhythm, articulation, tonguing, etc., as well as the keys reading notes. You will be introduced to the blues scales. Does not go into major or minor scales except for the C major, but you can get those from a method book(ironic no doubt). But that does not take away from the usefulness of this book and besides the user can get audio files to listen and play to. You are going to love this book!!!! I know I did and I’m old (not saying).

It’s taken me a week to complete Day 1, but I’m being diligent and I’m learning!!!

Too aggressive.
I took band in school, so I remember a little, but this is very advanced stuff for 2 weeks. Too technical. Book doesn't have enough pages to explain enough. He introduces some new notes in the practices and doesn't show the fingering, so you have to page back to the beginning. No 2 week miracles here as far as I can see. Will order something else. Wish I had my money back.

Great for a quick switch between instruments!
As an already accomplished player on several other instruments, I was looking for a way to pick up saxophone quickly. All I really needed was fingering, but the combination of scales and fingering made the difference in terms of speed. That is the difference this book offers. Fingering charts are available for free by the thousands, but the scales with fingering combined are magic!

Lean to play Alto saxophone real fast
This book will teach you how to play the saxophone in 14 days. It has an real easy excercises to follow in building up you playing time on a saxophone. I would recommend this book for people just starting to play saxophone or for people who need to refresh their saxophone playing skills.

Optimistic and a challenge but generally well paced.
The book is well laid out and generally explains the sax clearly. A pull-out fingering guide would have helped to avoid me having to thumb back and forwards to aid my memeory. The recorded soundtracks were very useful and the play along tracks later in the book made for nice progressive challenges. I have played the classical guitar for some years so have a familiarity with reading music, musical structure etc which I guess took some of the challenges out. Could I play the sax after 14 day, well, not brilliantly BUT I had a lot of fun and felt that I had laid a foundation on which to build. I suspect that I will revisit day 10 of the book onwards until I can play along with the songs to my satisfaction. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to attempt to learn the sax who has some ability to read music. Also worht checking You Tube for guidance on "embouchere" i.e. mouth technique.

Great book
Although I've had this more than 14 days, I haven't worked through the whole book just yet due to caring responsibilities and moving home but I have leaned so much and been able to memorize the notes so far, better than reading other sources which has enhanced my playing ability.
