Very impressed.
For items like this, I like to wait a while, but I was very impressed with this chair I had to write the review now. If I need to update it, I believe I can do so.I purchased this for my husband. Both of us have sciatica. My husband needed surgery for his - much worse than mine... Anyway, even in his worst pain, he sat I this chair comfortably. The lumbar support and the seat cushion are great! Even the padded arm rests are delightful. The wheels - seriously smooth as silk ... That chair glides so nicely, I can't believe it.Assembly was easy. Very very simple to put together. If this is one of those chairs that offer assembly for $129, don't waste your money -- do it yourself. No extra tools required- comes with the Allen Wrench.

Comfortable, sturdy, good looking, and a heck of a lot cheaper than its overhyped competitors
Great chair at a very good price point. It arrived in a HUGE box, which surprised me since it is sold unassembled, but assembly was not difficult and the tools were provided. It looks good. It is a very comfortable chair with good lumbar support and, ahhh, a high enough back that I can lean back to rest my neck when I want to.My previous chairs were Aerons, and after two that just didn't live up to the hype, I chose this Serta. That was a very good decision. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars instead of five) is that the hydraulic lifter failed almost immediately and I need to contact the seller or manufacturer for a new one. Based on others' experiences with this same flaw, I don't anticipate any problems, but I'll edit this review if it turns out otherwise.

Poor customer support
BONDED LEATHER ISSUES and POOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT: July 2019I've owned this chair since July, 2014 and loved it. Big and sturdy with good support for a 6'2", 260 lbs. sit-in-this-chair 8-10-hours-a-day working guy. Then...the leather bonding released off an arm, back and seat within the first 10 months. After some sweet-talking, the manufacturer replaced all, free of charge. (good job!)After 3 1/2 years, the bonding has released again from every leather part: arms, back & seat:The manufacturer will sell them ($100+shipping) but doesn't have the seat in stock and "does not back-order parts". Further discussion revealed they cannot call customers back to alert when parts arrive. Their policy is that THE CUSTOMER MUST CALL THEM PERIODICALLY UNTIL CATCHING THEM WITH THE PART IN STOCK (you can't make this up!) because, 'we just have too many people requesting parts to keep up with them all, so that part is up to you.' (call ended shortly after a conversation regarding what 'customer service' actually means, what business in the USA is all about and a PROMISE of a thorough review/warning to other possible purchasers)So, now I'm thinking about it with even more 'passion', I'm looking over the chair more closely and I see that:1) The seat has become a ball shape on top: it's soft enough that it's still bearable, like riding a horse and the saddle has a horn, you get the picture, but that explains the 'numbness' i sometimes feel in the nether region after a few hours straight in the saddle, as it were.2) The chair wobbles in all directions: I've not really paid attention to this because I'm an 'in motion' sort of guy, so I've grown accustomed to the inch of play in every direction, but, it's not right.3) The arm side and seat side on the right - my favored lean side - are split and broken. (Not noticed so much because they are on the side against the wall and not in easy view)4) The customer support was very disappointing and, after looking a few other customer pics, I see they KNOW about the problems and don't address them.THAT... is a clue!Folks, we vote with our DOLLARS! Let's get rid of shoddy offshore manufacturers who prey on our country because we are nice people and STOP BUYING THEIR JUNK! Nuff said.I'll include pics.

Comfortable, easy to assemble, durable.
It's comfortable. It's replacing one I bought in December 2012 from Amazon- (an Alera Ravino Big and Tall Series High-Back Swivel/Tilt Leather Chair, Black) that was $240. This one--no kidding--is the exact same chair except for a nicer looking "leather," and a few minor modifications. And it was only $208--a $32 savings over its predecessor.I had to take the old one apart to get it downstairs and it came apart the same way the new one went together--with the same tool. I believe all of these chairs--regardless of brand--are made by the same 7 guys in China and even though this chair arrived in a box that looked like it had been through two wars, a demolition derby, and a county fair, all the parts were there, nothing was damaged, and assembly was a breeze. These chairs are extremely durable and If you're buying one for casual use or for and 8 to 5 job, you should be very happy with it.I'm a writer and I work around 120 hours a week; I'm also 6'1" and clock in around 300 pounds. The way I look at it, if I can get 4 years out of one, a normal person should get at least 12 years.
