IT'S A FAITH CLASSIC
I heard someone in my fellowship of believers talking about this book, so I decided to order a copy. After I had done that my wife looked at our online bank account and said "What's this charge from Amazon?" I told her and she said, "We already have that book." Sure enough, I found it. So the new one has arrived and I will gift it to someone. Meanwhile I must get around to reading my old one. I have been assured it's very inspiring. Besides, what my own humility lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality.

awesome book
This is a much needed book for today's church. We, as a church; go off on homosexualtiy saying it's an abomination but who is talking about the fact that pride is an abomination??? It is!!! Sin is sin & we need to call it what it is... we, as a church; need humility. We need to learn to walk & operate in humility . . . there is much info in the word of God on this subject of pride & humility & we need to learn it... meekness is NOT weakness, it's strength under control. It takes real strength to remain humble & meek, it's just too easy to become prideful & God is against the prideful & pride always comes before a fall . ..King James VersionProverbs 16:5 KJV Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.More abominations to consider are: Proverbs 6:16-19 King James Version (KJV)16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.Judgement starts with the church . . .

This is a must-read for all Christians
This book is great. Murray's language is a little "dense" -- heavier reading than the average person today but the edited versions help make it easier. The content is superb on a little known and under-taught, under-appreciated, important aspect of Christianity. Humility is not supposed to be as we usually imagine it -- a cringing, hand-wringing Uriah Heep. Humility is the chief characteristic of Christ and of Heaven. Those who are not seeing this hallmark of heaven growing in their life as they surrender to the will of the Father (just as Christ did) may be in danger. In my own case, I was often frustrated with a lack of joy, of anointing & power in my Christian walk and could never discover why. While I was often sanguine, I was also often easily disturbed and upset by things. I didn't want to be. I recognized that I ought not to be...but what was missing? Filled with tips that go beyond the subject of humility, the author then circles back again and helps you see how so many aspects of the Christian life are related to humility. This book connected the dots for me. I only wish that it was required reading at every seminary so that all preachers could be instructed in this very important aspect and pass it on.

The most impactful book I’ve ever read
I wish I would’ve discovered this book earlier on in my walk with the Lord but I also don’t think it would’ve meant as much as it does now. This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Murray. Yes, his writing is difficult to read sometimes (it is from 1800s) but he writes with such conviction, so much sustenance and blunt truth within the words and that’s exactly why I love it. A must read.

Most influential book I've read
The most influential and life changing book I've read in my life. Being a reader, I've read hundreds of books. This one has finally risen to the top as the most life-changing. Murray is probably correct in claiming humility as the foundation of all virtues. Humility is certainly the hallmark of our Saviors life and I now see how humility is to be our hallmark as well. I just read the book again (over a dozen times I'm sure). I once recorded it so I could listen to it being read (and the recording somehow ended up on YouTube with some 230,000 downloads - go figure - it appears others are coming to appreciate this Upside Down Kingdom way of life: we are nothing that God may be all. AND, it's the path to the greatest happiness as well!

Read this book! But buy a version without so many grammar errors
Everyone needs to read this book. So, so good. But, buy a different version. This one is riddled with grammar and punctuation errors that sometimes completely change a sentence so it’s not understandable. If those errors were fixed this review would be 5 starts.

Thought provoking.
Convicting read, but so needed if we are serious about becoming like Christ.
