Marvelous Fun!
This gave me a wonderful review of all the reasons that I love Florence and am so grateful to the the marvelous Medici family, especially Cosimo the Great and Lorenzo the Magnificent for their patronage of the greatest artists in history and to Catherine for her peaceful diplomacy in times of warfare and her attempts to protect the Huguenots. They should never be forgotten!

Good read!
This gives a nice overview of the Medici. Not too much detail to get you bogged down and yet so very interesting. Love the series. Keep up the good work.

entertaining by light on detail
Provided a brief history at the 50,000 foot level. Wish there were notes that I could follow up on for things of interest to me.

House of Medici
The author examines the evolution and achievements of the Medici family. An Italian family of bankers. It is a well-written book.

Loved to find out more about the Midicis
This book, as all other Captivating History books, was concise, educational and interesting. Any event or people in history is covered in such a great way by these books and the writers.

Easy read - Minor Mistakes
I have studied the Medici extensively, particularly during the years of the Medici Bank. There are forgivable errors in facts during that time. I also feel that the conclusions drawn through the book as uninformed of practices at the time and falls prey to judgment according to an unfair standard, current day mores.

Such an terribly written book...
The story of the rise and fall, power and Renaissance magic that was the Medici family was butchered by the author(s) of this book. It hops ALL over the place, rambling on with run on sentences and information in parenthesis. It jumps back and forth and does not lay out a history that can not be easily followed. It refers to the reader as YOU, like a child would write.... " Lorenzo did this or that, like you know". Just poor writing skills. The text references drawings "below" that are not there. The drawings are not proportional to the pages and nearly impossible to read. Font is about 0.5 on captions. I learned about the Medici, overall, but could not keep track of all the family tree and their stories due to such a ragged history line.I can't believe anyone who is literate would give this book high ratings.
