From the creators of K-On! and Lucky Star comes a slice-of-life series packed with absurd antics and hilarious high school predicaments. Follow the adventures of three ordinary girls as they make life's awkward moments a thousand times worse. Along with a colorful bunch of classmates, they learn their most important lessons the hard way. Like whether goats are an appropriate form of transportation, who would win in a wrestling match between the principal and a deer, and most notably, if the three-second rule applies to weenies that fly through mohawks. Meanwhile down the street, a pocket-sized professor makes life difficult for a robot who just wants to be normal. But normal is the last thing you can expect in a town where salmon fall from the sky. In fact, the only thing you can count on is your friends, but even they are totally weird.

IS THE PRINCIPAL WRESTLING A DEER?!
this is an adorable anime with a mix of very subtle comedy, and over the top deadpan and slapstick comedy. while it may appear to be rooted in reality, being a slice of life series, it's actually not all that realistic. it blends a sort of real life meets sort of silly cartoonish gags that definitely break the reality one may expect from a typical slice of life series. also, i noticed in the second half of the series, the ending theme song is different every episode, but with that said i am not a big fan of the ending themes in general. the lyrics used in all the intros and outros seem to be very cheesy, like on the level of children's nursery rhymes, but i suppose this is supposed to promote the idea this anime is supposed to be very cute. speaking of cuteness, i noticed something of a pattern with Kyoto Animation. they don't really produce much of anything in a sexual nature. recalling back to previous animes, aside from their very first production ever, they have always avoided overt sexual themes for the vast majority of the time, which is very true for this anime specifically. there are no panty shots, no blatant nudity scenes. this series is practically safe enough to let your middle schooler watch with you. considering how many animes these days are guilty of sexual fanservice, it is a relief to see a brand of comedy not so reliant on anime cliche'. one final thing to note, for a slice of life comedy meant for 10 year old boys (it is "shounen" afterall), the budget in this series looks like it was overkill. for something seemingly so basic as this genre, i feel like they had the same kind of money that was put into Attack On Titan, if not at least 80% of the budget. this was a really high quality series, and though i took 6 years to get into it (it never got dubbed and i'm lazy to read) i don't regret taking a leap of faith and suffering through reading subtitles, for everything was really done well, even the Japanese voice acting was just right (female Japanese voices actually irritate me in some animes which is in part why i prefer english dubs, but this anime i didn't have any major issues).

Itās pretty similar to lucky star, but the humor has more variety
But while itās similar to lucky star, the humor is completely different. Itās more non linear than lucky star too. Thatās a compliment though because lucky star is my favorite slice of life. If you can take things at face value and not ask to many questions and understand that a lot of the humor is satire among other types of humor itās definitely funny and worth watching if you like slice of life. Itās also similar to k-on, on the merit that itās not very plot heavy; but to be fair k-on had more of a plot. I enjoy watching around 4-5 episodes at time and itās been fun. I feel it got funnier after the 5th or 6th episode, not that the first 5-6 werenāt enjoyable or anything, it just got more entertaining and fleshed out. Thereās not a ton of character development early on, so most of the humor comes from ridiculous and crazy situational circumstances. I will admit this definitely isnāt for everyone, but for those who can accept it, thereās something special underneath its mindless exterior. The dub is also very good, and Iād recommend the essentials variety for just that reason. Enjoy!

An alright adaptation but could have been done better.
The dub work is okay but could be better. The actors' potential is there but for some reason, the emoting is more subdued then you would expect. This is a shock comedy that uses situational comedy. Out of nowhere a characters, reaction can make a joke. Some times the jokes are simple while others jump out at you and try to rape your face. The original is great for this. Not every joke may land for you but each part is short and it's guaranteed enough of the jokes will land to keep you happy and entertained. So in the dub the actors don't emote as they should, you can definitely see that they are trying and that they want to, but it's like someone is telling them to pull it in some. Then there is the sound mixing. For some reason, sound effects or music can also be reeled in. During that one dramatic moment that is meant to punctuate the joke instead of a BAAAAAAAMM!!! you get a Bam!. This show relies a lot on the visuals and sound to slam a joke into place, but when things become subdued instead of slamming that joke on the table it either tries to subtly mic drops or pulls it in like they are afraid that the audience will be scared away from loud noizes. This show is BAMMM!, BOOOM, HOOYEAH. It's a fun skit show that blows daily life situations out of the water by surprising you or by obscuring the normal into the abnormal. It can feel good at times and will make you feel good about your day. Then at the same time make you feel tired as it can run almost breakneck. If your a fan of anime comedies then get this anime to watch, don't buy it for the dub.

BEST ANIME HISTORY OF ANIME
Nichijou (ordinary life) is my favorite anime of all time. I watched this not knowing what to expect and was blown away. The story, the emotion, the comedy, the depth and range of characters, the music, EVERYTHING about was amazing. I laughed, it makes you think about your position in this crazy world, and it leaves you feeling hopeful about this crazy world we live in. This is the second copy i have purchased because i literally watched the other one so much the blu-ray player stopped recognizing the disks. PLEASE, watch this anime. The blu-ray was well packaged and authentic. Thank you!!!

Brilliant but utterly bonkers anime!
Nichijoi (My Ordinary Life) is great fun but absolutely bonkers and utterly surreal! The main characters are very cute (especially Nano Shinonome the robot). I love the style (which is like a younger children's anime) but there are some bizarre things in the story which might upset younger children. I think the age rating of 12 is about right. I would recommend it to any manga and anime fans :-)

Not UK compatible
Love this series and was very excited to watch it again. Sadly it didn't say on the ad that this Blu Ray was US region. It wouldn't work in any of our consoles or DVD players. UK buyers, be wary!

Nice wacky comedy about everyday life and school life
4.5 stars actually. This is another series that is fun to watch. You will not regret watching this. Laughter ranges from smiles to grin to chuckle to laugh out loud depending on the scenario the characters find themselves in and how they respond. The series focuses on the life and school life of 3 school girls doing everyday things with a wackiness to it, things we all do or did like skip school, catch a train, take exams, school sports. The secondary focus is of a robot trying to be more human and fit in in her own cutesy and humorous way. This secondary focus also offers a look at acceptance with sincerity without actually trying to preach, refreshing especially in an era of social media becoming the main "news" source of so many.I would suggest watching with the Japanese voice acting with subtitles. I think you will get more enjoyment from the show. The Japanese voices are more expressive which adds to the gags.
