Doctor Who: Tom Baker Complete Season Six (BD) [Blu-ray]

What can I saw, the best doctor. Where are the other seasons??

Of all of the actors who have played Doctor Who, Baker in my opinion is the best!

Loved watching my first Doctor Who with Tom Baker on PBS Saturday mornings. Great to see these in great picture quality on Blu-ray with season six added to my movie/tv collection. A must to own for any Doctor Who fan!

I actually like Creature from the Pit! But the other episodes are actual bangers. Love this season! Such a great purchase. Got this while recovering from neck surgery.

This set contains a Dalek serial written by their creator Terry Nation, "Destiny of the Daleks" as well as probably Tom Baker's most popular serial, "City of Death." My favorite extras are Tom Baker talking about playing ping pong at the bottom of a Hilton where everyone auditioned and how he would take everyone out for drinks dressed as the Doctor.Love watching the old serials. I grew up in the New Mexico desert in the 70s. Everyone talked about Dr. Who but no one had seen an episode. So, I am catching up.One thing becomes clear from watching the old episodes is how personalities would start to take over the show and cause it to suffer, like in the Sylvester McCoy era. I think this is something the current creators could learn from, because it seems to me they are about to repeat it.

Another brilliant release of the classic series. Currently the definitive version of these stories, loaded with season appropriate extras. This, the first season to feature Lalla Ward's Romana, is a bit of a mixed bag as far as the stories are concerned, but none are without their own charm.This set includes perhaps one of the highest regarded stories of the entire classic series, The City of Death, penned by the genius that is Douglas Adams. It also contains what is now being marketed as the definitive edition of the legendary Shada, as well as 2 of the previous versions of the story. The only Shada items missing are the Eighth Doctor web version and the 30 Years in the TARDIS release from the previous DVD edition, but I suspect that those are being withheld for the rumored Wilderness Years collection.

I ordered this set because it had "City of Death" one of the most popular and one of my favorite episodes for half the price of that episode alone which made it well worth the price I paid. "The Creature from the Pit" and "Destiny of the Daleks" are fine episodes too. The other episodes are okay but the real gem is "City of Death"

Of course any sane Whovian cannot find fault with any of the Doctor Who episodes. Sure, some are better than others. I won't go into any details, leaving that to those who have nothing better to do than watch Doctor Who. (Oh, I guess that includes myself!) My complaint here is that this collection is actually Season 17 (1979-80) of the Doctor Who series. Season "Six" is for the Tom Baker episodes. I double-checked this with my sonic screwdriver, which can do amazing things.Regarding this collection of discs, so far (I haven't watched them all yet) it appears to be excellent quality at a reasonable price.

Once again the BBC has come across with a season of Tom Baker's Doctor Who and a wonderful collection of BluRay extras on each disc. The Shada that comes with this set is the fully complete animated version, and a separate disc of extras for it. Very happy with my purchase.

If you like Tom Baker as Dr. Who and Lala Ward as Romana then you will enjoy these blu-ray discs.
